On 12/18, Dr. Schulman removed a really deformed toenail for me. No problem. Yesterday, I went back for a follow-up. I was a 9 am appointment and noticed immediately that the doctor was in a bit of a stir about something because he was instructing his staff to call Dr. something, check with the Surgery Center, " I won't do that in Athens", etc. He came in to the treatment room (directly across from his staff) and, after a few words with me, continued instructing his staff. He cleaned my toe causing it to bleed a little, then put some betadine on a gauze and placed it on my toe. While talking with his staff again, the gauze fell off, whereupon he picked it up off the floor and re-applied and bandaged it. This may be an acceptable practice, I'm not a doctor, but the optics are awful. For years before I retired, I was a certified first responder, and an instructor. I cared for a lot of wounds and I never would have done that. I treated and redressed my toe when I got home. After the bandaging was done, he left the treatment room, to confer with his staff you see. After a couple of minutes, he looked across the hall and told me that I could put my sock and shoe back on, that we were done. I did so, walked to the check out window to find an appointment card (no name on it) and had to interrupt a meeting to ask if it was for me. After a moment, the ownership of the card was confirmed. Someone of the staff took a moment to tell me goodbye. I have no idea which one. I won't be returning to My Foot Doctor. Perhaps I'm just being petty, but I like my doctor to pay attention to me when I'm being treated.
