Since I was hit while stopped at a red light (at 50 mph), I have suffered with neck herniations, pinched nerves, headaches (head hit steering wheel, also Dx coup-contrecoup TBI) I have NEVER had a doctor treat me so unprofessionally. Insinuating (although I went through a nightmare with a prior back surgery) that I was SEEKING an unnecessary surgery... he had records of TBI and actually made a joke in the room. “Maybe you should watch out then every time you fall!” Admitting aloud to me “I know I have quite a sense of humor,” no humor gained; none of my actual issues addressed, laughed at by the woman who checked me out. This doctor basically told me “you’re faking” while I used to be an international athlete and I know pain from feigning attention, especially at a time like a pandemic where it is a risk to go into a doctor’s office at all.

Dr. Wesley H. Faunce's response
We certainly regret whenever a patient doesn’t have a good experience in our office. However, this feedback is incredibly off base from what a patient can expect from our practice. A quick glance at Dr. Faunce’s online reputation shows that he treats his patients with courtesy and respect. Though miscommunication can happen, it is never his intention to offend any patient. Moreover, he certainly would not insinuate that a patient was seeking an unnecessary procedure. If he believes a procedure is unnecessary, it’s because examination has shown that there is nothing that he could surgically repair. He bases his recommendations off of facts yielded from such exams and his years of experience.

Finally, we are taking the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously. While elective procedures have been put on pause, we have been following up with patients for staple removal in order to avoid infections. We’ve also been reaching out to identify any urgent or emergent cases. This not only gives those patients necessary treatment, but keeps them out of the ER, thus freeing up more hospital resources to combat the pandemic. Furthermore, we’ve taken precautions such as pre-screening and temperature checks at our practice to minimize our patients’ exposure risk. These are trying times for everyone, but our patients can be confident that we are doing everything we can to keep them safe and healthy.

BEWARE!! Faunce arrived 20 min after the Mega lightning round visit for symptoms with the PA. Faunce said my husband needed a MICRO DISCECTOMY & proceeded to utilize the entirety of OUR MICRO short visit with the story of his own back pain saga & positive surgery results, which we like many would, thought what a comforting analogy . Angelic words to a chronic pain sufferer, right. He quickly skimmed over surgery & risks like the risk no relief could occur. OMG.....visits OVER!!! No Q & A of hubby's concerns . He's leaving!! Our unaddressed questions, like, why wouldn't this surgery end the pain - could it leave him with worse or with irreversible pain - more damage or worst of all untreatable, or new & additional nerve damage! What happens if the spine & nerves are damaged in surgery? SERIOULY warranted concerns it's a NEURSERGERY visit! His pleasant demeanor became perturbed. He spent more tome on the story than the patient issues! Faunce is a big man displaying intolerance for questions to a patient desperately engulfed in intolerable pain ( or he wouldn't be there). We felt intimidated & that hubby's pain & surgery concerns were NOT the Priority of my husbands visit, but that comparing stories & billing time were prioritized during the paid appointment of a visibly suffering man, who ventured out to be educated on his condition, it's treatments & risks. We should remember medical personnel are interviewing for the privilege to be a care giver & even more so for a surgeon! I have to rate this train wreck because this site won't allow a post without a rate.

Dr. Wesley H. Faunce's response
We sincerely apologize to any patient who is not satisfied with our care. Dr. Faunce cares deeply for every patient and makes a point to put them first. He makes recommendations in the patient’s best interest, basing them in well-honed skills and years of experience. However, it does sometimes happen that the patient does not want to pursue Dr. Faunce’s recommendation, especially if it’s a more invasive option such as surgery. This reaction is understandable, and Dr. Faunce is always willing to answer questions and make his patients as comfortable as possible before moving forward. His commitment and care are reflected in the hundreds of great reviews across various platforms. Dissatisfied patients wishing assistance should contact Linda Bell at (239)-691-5911 or Bob O'Grady at (239)-292-9309.
