Total Health is the only urgent care facility in Boone (that I'm aware of), so I go there when I have a sudden problem that needs to be addressed immediately (strep throat, upset tummy, etc). I probably would not go here if I had a severe problem that I couldn't already identify, but they've generally done a pretty good job at giving me the appropriate treatment for my ailment. The staff, including the providers, are all very nice, and Mr. Church (FNP) is very funny and caring. The main problem is that you very likely will wait for quite a while, especially if you're doing the walk-in acute care. Several visits have resulted in multi-hour waits, but that's about average for an urgent care visit. Once I walked in and out after being seen, tested and treated in less than 30 minutes when they were having a slow morning. People with appointments are generally seen faster (makes sense), and walk-in with urgent problems. Overall, a pretty good service but not the fastest.

Be prepared to wait... quite a long time even if you have an appointment. It's not uncommon to wait apx 1 hr in waiting room after appt time plus wait time in room. I personally have had to wait over 2 1/2 hrs & never ended up seeing anyone... My doc had gone home for the evening.

This facility has been great to me. They usually take the time to help me when I need it. Dr. D tries really hard to find out whats wrong with me and fix it. He has been a great Dr. to me since I came to him. He listens, and I think that is a great asset.
