I went in for a contact lens fitting after waiting 3 weeks for my temporary lenses to come in. I was not called as I was told I would be. When I called and found out that the first set of lenses were in, they would not schedule a fitting, because the second set had not come in. I waited another week then called in again and was told they were in and I could schedule the fitting. When I got there I was iceboxed in an exam room for 30 minutes with no one coming through to check on me. Why I was in an exam room instead of fitting I have no idea. During this time he started working on a walk in family. When I went and complained I got lip from the girl at the desk, and asked if I wanted to reschedule. I am angry at this point as I took time off work to come get this done. The doctor saw me at that point and I got attitude from him as well. He had me try on the first set of lenses then lied to my face when I asked about the other lenses. The ones that had to be special ordered. He said that they were not here. I could literally see them on the tray in his hand. My AirOptix were in a white/blue box. The other set in black and gold. I was so pissed at this point I just wanted to go.

It's a crapshoot if anyone even answers the phone in that office as I need the script again to order lenses on my own.

When I had my exam, there was a different doctor in the office. I can't remember her name, but she was great. Dr. Cancellari was rude and unprofessional.

It's a shame that there's not a NEGATIVE star rating. I walked in on January 1, 2016 for a contact and glasses exam. That's after calling to make an appointment and was told there was nothing available, yet I walked in, as posted "Walk Ins Welcome," to be told, "sorry we can't take you." Well then you need to take the sign down!!! After being persistent, I was told to come back in 90 minutes. Of which I did, much to their dismay and surprise. The girls at the front desk in the optometry department are WAY beyond RUDE & DISRESPECTFUL!!! I was seen by the fill-in optometrist, had my exams done and was told the "trial contacts" were going to be ordered and I should have them in 3-5 days. LUCKLY, my glasses were ready on January 2, 2016 (a day later), I was ecstatic!! The people in LensCrafters were GREAT!!! On January 7, 2016, I call to check on my trial contacts, "to be told they are not in, but we can reorder them...that their ordering company has shipped them, but we haven't received them yet."." January 14, 2016, I call YET again to check... "Sorry, but we're not sure where they are." I then asked to talk to a supervisor or manager, with that I was told," we will have one call you by 5 pm." Well, again the females at the desk (the RUDE duo) was VERY surprised when I showed up at 4:45 asking for a supervisor or manager... The duo looked at me and said, "we were going to call you back." Wait, neither of them are a MANAGER or SUPERVISOR. When I asked AGAIN about my contacts I'm told AGAIN, "we don't know why they haven't shown up. We can reorder them." REALLY.... then a RUDE manager (Eric) from LensCrafters comes in AFTER he sees me walking out, he didn't ask me what was wrong, but was concerned about the RUDE Duo. Then WOW all of a sudden, he tells me "the contacts are on back order, unknown when I would get them." Hmmmmm, why couldn't the duo tell me that?!? At that point I AGAIN ask for the OPTOMITRIST to call me. I was told "he will call you on Saturday." Welllllllll, I'm STILL waiting.... Today, January 21,2016, I call AGAIN, we have no idea when the contacts will arrive." Now I'm beyond LIVID!!! Its been 21 days since the exam AND they were paid upfront to a tune of NEARLY $300 (for just the exam), which is BEYOND outrageous!!!!! CAN NOT give me excuse, "its about the experienced optometrist." Especially since I still have NOT seen Dr. James Cancellari NOR have I spoke to him. The duo said they would "TRY" to have the doctor call me Saturday. I'm still waiting from the last time I was told that... Within 5 minutes of getting off the phone I receive a call back saying we have your contacts... Hmmmm, did the contact fairy all of a sudden just drop them off???? That's after threatening them with contacting the Board of Optometrists... NOW is the REAL joke, the doctor doesn't do contact fittings on the weekend?!?!?! Ok, I work Monday thru Friday, 0645 -1600, single parent of 2 teens, I've waited 21 days SO FAR, and he doesn't try to be convenient to the customer?!?!?! I would have presumed that they would try to accommodate the customer. If you are SO busy, maybe you need to get someone in there FULL time, that truly cares about the patients and can replace the duo with people that put the patients concerns first and with respect. It was like I was an inconvenience and disturbing their social life. Now I'm left with "the doctor will "try" to call you and explain why he can't (or chooses to not) see me on a Saturday"... Trust me, once I finally get the clearance from him I will NOT return and will advise anyone that asks to NOT go there...

This is legitimately the WORST Optometrist you could possibly visit. A few days ago, after a scheduled an appointment, I was told to wait a "few moments." Gladly doing so, I trusted the receptionist, because I had always done my Eye Exams and Contacts at the Dale Mabry LensCrafters, so I expected at least a similar level of service at this location. Boy was I in for a surprise, I ended up waiting one hour and fifteen minutes... And then we did the "pre-exam," (the part where the receptionist takes a few machines and check your eyes "thoroughly" for a good two minutes,) and then I was quickly thrown back out to the waiting room, to await ANOTHER 30 minutes of waiting. The "doctor," if you should call him that, after waiting, is a person who though dresses in a low profile manner, is outrageously cocky, ignorant, and goes high over heels to show that he is better than you. The receptionists also give you the BIGGEST attitude ever. They treat the people waiting like sacks of potatoes and completely slack off on the job. If you ask them for the estimated wait time left, they start giving you some lip, as if they were under tons of stress, (because the way they sit there just checking their Facebooks is a hair-pulling load, and they obviously don't get enough credit for just sitting there...) The store at Citrus Park is very welcoming, the people who work out in the retail section are very professional, very nice, and are overly respectful, but the Optometry section of the location is UTTERLY DISGUSTING. Not only that, but they charge you over $100 to do an eye exam. At the Dale Mabry location I was given one for little over fifty. They completely RIP YOU OFF, make you wait in UTTERLY UNLIVABLE lines, (even with appointment,) and treat you like COMPLETE TRASH. Not only this, the rooms they use, are disgustingly horrid to look at. The actual retail section is very clean, very professional, but the exam rooms the OP uses has holes in the walls, where floor molding has been very obviously ripped from the walls, (that's why there is this gigantic gaping whole that encompasses the whole bottom three inches of the wall,) and the area is very poorly maintained.

Feel free to purchase glasses from this location, but NEVER make an appointment with this OP, because the staff, including him, is unarguably ignorant, unprofessional, sassy, and condescending.

Horrible experience. It took 3 tries to get my prescription done. And it was wrong. I had to take them to another doctor to get them correct. And it cost me $300 more dollars. Terrible all the way around!

I had a routine eye exam with Dr Cancellari in April 2014. I found him to be competent, thorough and felt comfortable with my visit. Staff was friendly and helpful. Office environment was very clean.

Absolutely the worse eye dr that I have personally ever been to. He's condescending to his patients and even more so to his employees. I'm amazed that this guy is still in business. On top of that, the receptionists completely forgot to order my contacts which I had paid for. I will make sure that I tell everyone I know to stay away from this optometrist.

I don't think I'll go back to him. He was very rude and not understanding. I'm the one paying X amount of money on glasses, and he's would have preferred not getting rushed out of the office. Very unprofessional. I would not recommend him!
