I am a physician and was with my wife when she was examined by Dr. Verma and his PA. No one had knowledge of my professional background. The attention given, the time allowed, the knowledge displayed and the concern displayed by Dr. Verma and his PA were those of exemplary professionals. His office staff were courteous, warm and had a sense of humor. We look forward to our future visits at his office and the continuum of care that we feel assured will follow.

I saw Dr. Verma about 2 years ago before I moved out of the area and when we returned, I had a good experience with him so, I decided to resume care for my diabetes and my Hashimoto's with him. First of all.. The positive... I give Dr. Verma credit for correcting my insulin protocol and straightening out my blood sugar issue. However, my experience with him is that he is unprofessional, misogynistic, rude and does not seem to like it when a woman tries to stick up for herself. First of all... I spent over 13 years dealing with Synthroid and it did not work for me. What works for me is Natural desiccated thyroid (AKA Armour). I spent years dealing with horrible Hashimoto's symptoms along with other co-morbid conditions including Myalgic Enchephamyleitis AKA Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from a severe post viral infection. I am still sick with ME/CFS which is a very misunderstood, little funded disease that millions suffer from. I was lucky enough to be able to be treated by a TOP specialist in this disease who passed away in 2015. That being said.. Let me tell you a little about my experience with Dr. Verma.
My first visit, he was not having it that I am on Armour. He proceeded to attempt to pull me off a medication which is CLEARLY working for me. Objective labs and the VAST IMPROVEMENT of my symptoms from Hashimotos Autoimmune Thyroid prove this medication works for me. I was on a ridiculously high dose of Synthroid which was not working. My T3 and T4 levels were bad and my TSH levels were so horrific in the 30's and 40's that I was losing hair, sick all the time, gaining weight and it just was not working. No matter how well I stuck to the instructions on how to take Synthroid. It just did not work for me. I tried explaining this to him. He still was not having it. I was also in the exam room with my same sex partner and after I pointed out the CLEAR and VALID reasons for why I did not want to change, he proceeded to say to me " well, there's a practice in Macomb with all women.. why don't you go there". I was stunned. Was this a misogynistic remark because he didn't like a woman challenging him or if it was directed at me and my partner? I gave him a second chance and went back for my appointment 2 weeks later. What occurred at this visit was abhorrent, unprofessional, arrogant, rude and UNACCEPTABLE!
Then he brought up the Armour issue yet again...First off, he again started PUSHING Synthroid on me again. Again, he was rude, had no real valid reason why I should change a medication PROVEN to work for me, started to also make up unsubstantiated claims about Armour & flat out lied. Then he proceeded to disparage my former doctor (who is deceased) who was a well respected, published and beloved physician to the ME/CFS community. He also said that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a "racket and a scam". I asked him several times to "Please stop speaking about my former doctor like this". He also stated that Hashimoto's and it's symptoms that we suffer from is "NOTHING" By this time, it is clear that Dr. Verma and I could not have any sort of patient/doctor relationship. He again attempted to pull me off Armour by asking me to take yet another thyroid medication and accused me of lying about the fact Synthroid does not work for me. My body does not absorb it. I was up to 475 mcg of Synthroid. This is an UNGODLY amount of Synthroid. There are people who have had their thyroid removed who don't require this dosage. He tried to tell me (another lie) that there are only 40 people in the entire world who do not respond to Synthroid. He left the room to get samples of this other thyroid medication. Upon his return he again began disparaging my former doctor. ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH. I gave him his samples back and said to him "We are DONE here" and I left his office.
I have NEVER in my 45 years on this earth have experienced what I experienced with this doctor. This doctor is clearly getting some sort of incentive for prescribing Synthroid or is just an arrogant, misogynist, homophobic excuse for a doctor.

First visit and his PA did all the history but neither had any interest in my symptoms, did nothing! The Doctor was barely in the room for 60 seconds and treated me like it was a BOTHER to even speak to me. I would Not recommend this doctor even though he may be qualified I could've printed the information he told me off Google! Thumbs Down👎

Dr. Verma has treated me for a thyroid problem for the last few years. When treatment recommendations were made, he honored my decision even though I knew it was not his preferred choice. He worked with me and the results have been very positive. Not only does he take time to talk with your during the visit, he also follows up on problems that were identified in previous visits even if some of those issues do not directly pertain to what his is treating you for. He is a caring doctor.

The Dr came in the room for literally 30 seconds on the first visit and acted as if his day was being disrupted. The Physician assistant did all the history, etc. I would not recommend this Dr.

I have a patient of Dr. Verma's for almost 5 years now. Every hospital and office visit has been great! His bedside manner is excellent. I always feel welcomed and valued by Dr. Verma and his staff. My office visits are always finished in a timely manner. He answers the questions I have and I never leave feeling disappointed or confused.

WARNING: Terrible bed side manner!!! If you need to ask questions, or are expecting a doctor that will LISTEN TO YOU TALK rather than TALKING OVER YOU OR DEMEANING YOU, then you will want to make an appiontment with another doctor. Needless to say, I left my appointment in the middle of it and told Dr. Ashish Verma, MD that "you cannot talk to a patient or yell at me." I do NOT recommend this doctor.
