Came in to see Dr.Bourque in Nov 2021. Wait time to see him was less than 3months but I'm taking into consideration that elective surgeries are currently on pause due to Covid and CUPE strike.

I was referred to Dr.Bourque for severe pain in my left knee which has been present for 2years now and caused by hoffa's fat pad impingement syndrome.

It was very clear within the first minutes of my appointment that he had reviewed my file as well as made a clear decision regarding such before meeting me and hearing of my symptoms as well as previously tried methods of pain management.

Dr.Bourque's very first question was to ask my age. He scoffed at my answer; 26. He informed me that operating on my knee could give a positive result or a negative result. He did not go into detail as to why the surgery could give a negative result. He then further explained that being so young; the success of the operation could be temporary and he would not do it.

He did not recommend or even speak of anti inflammatory injections to the fat pad which is a commonly tried procedure for my condition PRIOR to an operation.

In the last 2 years I've been taking naproxen daily as well as regular use of voltaren. I receive cortisone injections every 3months that sometimes help; sometimes not! I've also spent multiple trips to see a physiotherapist.

Dr.Bourque suggested I continue using voltaren and...wait for it... go swimming.

The most insulting visit to a "professional" in my lifetime. Can't wait for doctors to realize being young is an unacceptable reason to refuse help. As a young, working mother; I need functioning knees NOW! Not when I'm 65 and retired.

Shameful

When my daughter broke her elbow and needed emergency surgery, Dr Bourque was on call at the hospital. He came in, looked at the x-rays and her elbow. Having had my share of surgeries over the years, I knew what to expect but my wife was in distress and seeing how she was, he took the time to explain everything to her in simple terms so that she could understand properly in her emotional state. When he was done, he took me aside to explain in more medical terms everything that he would do, what the consequences could be, and that we may need to visit the IWK in another city if he couldn't get the results he wanted. The accident happened at 3 pm and after 2.5 hours in the operating room she was out at 10:30 pm. Once again, he took the time between this surgery and the next to explain everything he did and how everything went. Our follow up appointment was 4 days later, we were obviously added to an already full day and told it could take a while before we could see the doctor that day. Went in, waited for maximum an hour and we saw him. To me, that's not a punctuality issue, it's an expectation issue from the patient.

Anyhow much to our dismay, after leaving the appointment, my wife fell and broke her wrist... Back to the hospital to see Dr Bourque and we once again experienced the same level of professionalism and attention as before, with the added mischief in his voice that the situation was in all honesty, pretty funny. We finally finished our 6 weeks follow-up visits with him at the hospital and every single time we saw him, it has been a great visit. He has always been caring and patient, taking the time to show us the x-rays, explain what he saw and the consequences of it.

To everyone complaining about him being late, remember that on a regular day, this doctor sees more patient than anything you have to do in your work day but also has to do it with a precision that can have major impacts on your health. Sometimes, he has to do it on very little sleep when he is called in for 2 or 3 emergency surgeries so when I have an appointment with him at 10 am in the morning for a follow-up and he's running an hour behind, so what??

I have never met the staff at his office but the staff at the hospital has never been anything else than amazing. Having lived in other provinces, I can guarantee you that waiting an hour to see a doctor is nothing short of spectacular. Try going to a hospital in Quebec and waiting for 7 to 8 hours to see a nurse, then come back here and complain that a doctor "wasted your time" by having you wait for an hour and half.

Thank you Dr Bourque for taking care of my daughter and my wife the way you did.

had an appointment on July 22 2019 and was there early 10 am , waited till 1130 am asked the girl at the front desk at St Anne hospital what was going on and she said the doctor is running late 1 hour , yet another patient was 30 mins late and they refused to see him because he was 30 minutes late i have to say suchj an UNPROFFESIONAL DOCTOR do not go to this doctor , for he will not keep his appointments etc etc what a lousy waste of my time ,
this doctor thinks he is more important that his paitints or his paitians are not worth him being on time ! SUCH AN EGOTISTICAL PIECE OF CRAP!!!!!!!!

DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR FOR HE WILL ONLY WAIST YOUR TIME AND THINK HE IS BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE !!!

what a waste of my gas and time , very very unproffesional

Excellent doctor, performed 2 knee scrapes and he advised me to walk and get lots of exercise otherwise I would have to get a knee replacement. I did and still do exactly what he prescribed and I am walking well and I am 80 yrs. old and this was about 4 yrs. ago.

Did a knee replacement on my mom. He put the wrong size in. My mom was left with severe pain and limited mobility. At the follow up, he said everything is going just fine. He said the pain she was feeling was normal. She went for a second opinion and she was operated on a second time by another surgeon to replace the oversized prosthetic. Thankfully, she is now feeling much better. Stay away from this monster. All he cares about is the size of his wallet!

I went to see Dr. Bourque expecting good things, after the comments I read here. I had fallen about 9 mos ago and my right knee took the full impact, also within the last year I had been diagnosed with a bakers cyst in the same knee, as a result the last while has been painful.he last while has been painful. Dr. Bourque was running behind that day, staff had already gone and I should've expected a disappointment at that point. I was naive though, so he caught me by surprise when he came barreling into the room telling me there was no surgical option for me because it's all based on BMI (Body Mass Index). I haven't moved much in the last year with the injuries from the fall, so that aided in putting on extra weight but I am a big girl to start with. I had no issue with that, he was just being truthful and wasn't rude at all. He looked at my knee all of 20 seconds and told me I had done no damage as a result of the fall. I had gone in with a list of questions and wanted to inquire about some issues I was having because of that fall ( my leg feeling twisted when I walk). I proceeded to get more frustrated as everytime I started to ask something, he interrupted me...and it happened over and over. I guess he felt where he was running behind, I couldn't possibly have anything of value to say. He looked at an xray and told me I had severe OA, one side of th eknee was bone on bone, and that I was going to have to live with it as they get poor results with surgery from people who are overweight. I left there feeling more than discouraged! I guess the pain I'm in is going to remain and he didn't even mention the baker's cyst and if it could be removed. Tough luck for me I guess. I would not recommend this surgeon at all....maybe if your skinny. In his defense, like i said he was never rude or unkind....just brutally closed minded and not empathetic to my pain and has no idea how regular people live.
