My first visit to Slack’s office was very disappointing. His nurse got 2/3 of my prescriptions wrong (took many painful phone calls to rectify, and Slack made me feel like it was my fault) and made me feel like I should apologize for becoming a new patient.

Dr. Slack then took over. He gives off very strong “I’m better than you” and “You’re going to do what I say” vibes. Every follow-up appointment I ever had after the first got worse in these and other ways. Eventually, I dreaded ever having to go in because, as best I can articulate, Slack and most of the staff seem like they’re on the verge of telling you you’re grounded without supper. Just very condescending, and I never got any indication that there was any special expertise with Dr. Slack (turns out he’s not actually an MD - he’s a DO, which, as most people know, is how you get into medical school if you couldn’t get in to become an MD). He never seemed very interested in my health, nor did he demonstrate that he knew very much that might help me. I’m hugely relieved I’m not going to him anymore. It’s very easy to find much, much better.

My experience with Dr. Slack was, by and large, not impressive. Starting with the very young male nurse who seemed largely dismissive from the start and got my prescription from information wrong, which Dr. Slack subsequently called in wrong. The nurse also entered my name wrong in the system, which has caused a problem each time I’ve had to call in. Dr. Slack seemed mostly nice but didn’t seem to have very much knowledge about anything I asked him about. Ultimately, I’ve decided to move on. I just couldn’t find any value with this small Highland outfit. I think they are on the amateur side. I’ve since learned that DO is a much easier medical school track than MD, which might explain the lack of expertise.

I had the same experience as a previous reviewer. I told him my issue and he said “what do you want me to do about it?” I felt mortified and humiliated and went to my car and cried after the appointment. I’d never recommend him.

Very very rude. I have never felt more useless and of no value as a person until I met him!

Highly recommend Dr Slack. I am picky with doctors as well. He is very personable and their office wait time is minimal.

He seems to be conscientious about his work. I would like him to make more lifestlye recommendations. It is also important to have a good bedside manner at all times. It would also be nice if he interviewed patients more thoroughly when making a diagnosis instead of just looking at labs. I've had some great visits with him and one that was not so good.

I honestly couldn't help but laugh reading the previous comment. I had an awful experience with Dr. Slack. When I met with him and I told him what my problem was he said..."Well, what do you want me to do about it!?"(I almost started to cry when he said that) My thought was.."You're a doctor, you tell me!?" Shouldn't doctors know more than patients? Don't they know what to do? He was NOT caring at all, he was NO help at all, and he NEVER put a smile on his face the entire time. He was serious and grumpy the whole time. Who knows, maybe he was having a bad day that day, but that should be no excuse. I will NOT be going to him ever again. I like doctors that are caring and willing to help and easy to talk to. I felt like he didn't care.
