Most dedicated physician in PEI if not the country. This man has dedicated his life to his work. Talented, knowledgeable, kind, skilled. You could not ask for a better doctor.

All the pain I had was dismissed by this doctor in 2008! I lived for years with chronic pain when one simple test would have netted a proper diagnosis. If only I had been tested for Celiac Disease. If only I had been believed! Too many times, doctors, including this one couldn't find out what was wrong. Instead of digging deeper and trying to solve the problem, they dismiss the patient! Really sad. The hospital staff, overall were excellent but the lack of care by Dr. Scheafer and all the pain endured will be remembered forever. If you can't find the solution, refer the patient to someone who can. Doctors are only as good as their referrals!

I had the unfortuante experience of meeting a very unkind Dr. Schaefer under emergency conditions. Had exploratory surgery same day. I overheard a doctor saying to another that there was an incident during surgery (no one bothered to tell me) and have no firm diagnosis or relief. I do not trust him, nor will I ever be a patient uner his care again!

I would have to agree with everyone on this man. He truly is a gifted doctor. It takes a smart man to be a surgeon but Dr Schaefer is much more than just a smart man, hes extremely intelligent, compassionate, and will always find your proper diagnosis. Returns patients phone calls, makes referrals promtly if the patient requests and sometimes it isnt even to with surgery but with the shortage of doctors on PEI this man is here to pick up the slack for all the ones we do have. Good job Dr Schaefer

What's not to like about him. Great bedside manner which is sometimes the best medicine for someone concerned about their health. Good doctor

A very comical man...though I don't think he means to be.. Gets distracted easy and goes about like a bee in a mitt, but is absolutely the best surgeon. I get a real kick out of him. If you have hime for a surgeon, relax, because you are in very capable hands...and he'll make you smile !
