Personable. Can handle complex cases, particularly mood disorders in pregnancy and postpartum. Knows all the research. Impressive. I just like her.

Completely self-absorbed. Does not have the ability to listen and empathize. Egotistic person who is always talking about her husband and herself.

Dr. Dresner is a psychiatrist, which means she's schooled in the processes of the brain. She's not a psychotherapist--which means she's not there for you to unload all your misery on. She's concerned with whether or not you are sleeping, eating, maintaining a normal schedule and are engaged in life. Her time is expensive because health insurance rarely covers mental health visits, and because treatment is tailored specifically to the individual. That said, she's a great doctor. I have a mood disorder, PTSD, and I've had cancer. And yes I'm on a cocktail of drugs. For the first time in my adult life (I am nearly 50)I have reached a level of stability and calm that I have never had. Wouldn't you rather be on a medication that made life good for you than be making weekly visits to a therapist to whom you vented and vented? There's a point when you have to get over yourself and stop the self-pity.

I saw her for about 1 1/2 years prior to, during and just after my first pregnancy. She is very self-absorbed, seems very uninterested in hearing the details, only in prescribing meds. The front desk receptionist, one in particular, was incredibly rude and accused me of lying when I canceled an appointment and she had not marked it as canceled, therefore was asking for payment. Dr. Dresner backed up the receptionist and said she couldn't have possibly made the mistake. I had some luck with one of the social workers there for talk therapy but found the majority of the practice to be condescending and rude. It seems to me that a practice specializing in helping those with depression, they should be ultra-sensitive and overly helpful, not the other way around. I left there and have been seeing another wonderful doctor who actually cares - one who actually takes insurance - another gripe I have with WS. You have to file your own claims and pay the full amount upfront at the appt.

Never on time, your appointment usually does not happen until 15 to 30 minutes after your scheduled. Doctor is very self-absorbed and not interested int he patient, only on prescribing drugs so that she doesn't have to hear your problems. MONEY HUNGRY, MONEY HUNGRY. I know there are not that many places that specialize in women's depression but keep looking, just don't go to this practice. How is she still continued to practice. Is her ethics every questioned by a higher authority? If so, she and her practice would be out of business.

She is probably the WORST doctor to see if you are depressed &/or suffer from post-partum depression. I was severly depressed after my second child and she was highly recommended by my ob/gyn at Northwestern. I couldn't imagine in my wildest nightmares of the events that would transpire. I could not believe that this woman was in charge of the Woman's Mental Health Program. She was insensitive, hurtful, and extremely self-involved. Did not really listen, just barked her recommendation for medicine and was annoyed with crying or emotion. She even used vulgarities with me during the course of the appointment. It was the single most horrible experience I ever had with a medical professional. She was not on time with my appointments and did not return my emergency page phone call. How this woman is allowed to practice in the mental health field is beyond me. Nehama Dresner is very worst doctor to see if you have mental health issues.

I couldn't disagree more. Dr Dresner got me through the toughest times of my life. breast cancer .... a disabled child.. I love her. I love her frankness, her attitude and yes her use of drugs to help.. what is wrong with that.. We all need the help sometimes.. she may not be for everyone but she is for me....

Dr. Dresner came recommended as a specialist in pregnancy and mental health. While she is very smart, she did not seem interested in getting to know me and instead of trying to address why I was feeling bad after stopping my medicine she told me i needed talk therapy and referred me to one of her colleagues. She didn't return my page and didn't call back until the next morning and then only after I called her office. Of course, within 30 minutes of switching to the doctor she recommended, her staff called asking me to settle my bill. They tried to charge me a fee for giving my credit card over the phone. I ended up leaving the guy she recommended - another high priced out of network doctor who wouldn't even fill out a claim form...

Although I see another doctor in the practice, I can speak to the overall attitute of the practice. I agree with the previous poster that the office staff is quite rude. They ask many personal questions and are less than helpful, even rude, at times. The practice in general is into money-making and they make that clear by all the signs hanging everywhere about pay. While I continue to see my doctor there, it's not the most pleasant experience when I have communicate with the office staff!

Her ego is huge, she is very rigid in her opinions and she will drop you as a patient if she has to actually work with someone who is going through a hard time
