He's a great doctor! Professional, intelligent, and easy to talk to. One of the best I've seen in a long time! He's good with teens, too. Took a week or so to get an appointment, but worth the wait. I'm not easily impressed, but I am with Dr Gallo- you will be, also. Do yourself a favor and go. :)

First off let me begin with his office personal. Richard is very polite and professional and is always in a good mood and he just makes the whole demeanor of the office very cozy and comfortable. I have been seeing Dr. Gallo for going on 3 years now and he is magnificent. He is a very good listener and he will even let you sit and tell you how your life has been going and what you have been up to lately. Most doctors only focus on your illness and then push you out the door. Dr. Gallo on the other hand approaches both your illness and also will have some small talk with you with the utmost professionalism. Another great thing about Dr. Gallo is he is always available in some sort of way. Usually if you call him early on in the day he will call you back personally himself and speak with you later on. If it is after hours, Dr. Gallo has a very convenient after hours answering service that will one way another get a hold of him for you. All and all he is a WONDERFUL doctor!

Dr. Gallo saved my life. I would have done myself in a long time ago, if not for his careful medication management and weekly 45 minute sessions. If you just want meds and don't want to talk then I wouldn't recommend him, but I also think that all psychiatrists should speak with their patients especially if they are prescribing medications. He leads me to my own conclusions (generally the correct and healthy ones) through occasional story telling. Before seeing him, I saw a psychiatrist who didn't do talk therapy along with a therapist with a MSW. Needless to say, the MSW didn't work out as I'm in for trauma therapy...I think I was too much for her to handle to be honest. Dr. Gallo happens to specialize in trauma and PTSD which fit very well with the reasons as to why I had to begin psychotherapy.

DR GALLO IS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. MY CHILD WENT TO HIM FOR SIX MONTHS AND ALL HE DID WAS RAISE HIS DOSAGE ON HIS MEDICINES. WHEN I ASKED ABOUT PAST SESSIONS HE GOT IRATE AND STARTED SCREAMING AT ME THAT HES BEEN DOING THIS FOR 25 YEARS AND HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING AND I SHOULDNT ARGUE WITH HIM. SINCE WHEN IS ASKING ABOUT YOUR CHILD ARGUING? HE ALSO CONTINUED TO BELITTLE ME IN FRONT OF THE OTHER PATIENTS AS WE WERE WALKING OUT HIS OFFICE. I WOULD NEVER SEND ANYONE TO HIM.
