I was Dr. Resnick’s patient in 1994 at Providence hospital. I was in the psych ward after a suicide attempt complaining of bipolar symptoms. Dr. Resnick refused to treat me, and threatened to lock me up in the state hospital if I really felt like I couldn’t take care of myself. In fear for my freedom, I pretended to get better and followed his instructions in order to get out of there. I was not going to get the care I needed from him.

Later I found out that he had diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder because he thought I was manipulative. That diagnosis haunted me for years, and caused another psychiatric to treat me combatively because she thought I was manipulative. It’s been almost 3 decades and I’m finally getting the proper care I deserve. I’m being treated for bipolar, anxiety, and depression and I have an empathetic psych nurse. Dr. Resnick has no empathy or compassion. He was also training students at the time, which made me fear for the future of psychiatry. Stay away from this doctor. He’s terrible.

I have never had a doctor make me feel smaller. Dismissive of my feelings.
