Absolute worst staff I have ever encountered, stay far away from this place. They clearly do not want to help people who are in need. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor and staff who ACTUALLY CARE about their patients.

I contacted this Doctor on Monday 6/13. Amongst other things I suffer from severe depression and I am desperately seeking help. As I explained to the receptionist who took my demographics and insurance information; I have a prior history of attempt suicide and this is the first time I have recognized that I need help before it’s too late. She explained that my insurance needed to be verified and someone would call me later that day to schedule my appointment.

When I didn’t receive a call back I assumed that they just needed more time to process my insurance. I called twice on Tuesday and both times got an answering machine, so I left detailed messages. Again on Wednesday, called twice and again the answering machine. Even though I had left several detailed messages over two days, no one ever called me back.

Today someone actually answered the phone and immediately put me on hold. My elation of actually getting through to someone wore off after holding for 5 minutes and then being hung up on. With a sigh I decided I was going to give it one more shot and I called again. I couldn’t get out a sound before I was immediately put on hold.

A short wait and then I finally got to speak to someone about making this appointment I originally called about on Monday. The receptionist stated that she needed to check and see if my papers were ready and she placed me on hold. It was just a few moments before someone completely different got on the line to tell me, “The doctor that takes my insurance is not accepting new patients at this time.”

How awful my experience has been dealing with this office during a time of great pain and emotional turmoil. I imagine that I am not the only person who calls a psychiatrist because they need help. I am writing this review so others can be aware that this doctor is not accepting new patients; internet, insurance sites state he is accepting new patients and the office web site does not have any notification that he is not. I hope that by sharing this, people who need help can avoid the ignorant waste of time and find the compassion they deserve.

If you are looking for someone who will enable you to continue down a path of destruction then DO NOT go to this doctor. If you are looking for real help then go to this doctor. I have never once felt judged, chastised or like my problems are invalid. There is a level of compassion and care demonstrated during our sessions that has been a huge help in my healing process. I like that he is down to earth and has a great sense of humor. He is not going to just prescribe something and turn you away. He works to get you through the fog and educate you on the whys and hows. I find him straight forward, ethical and real.

I went to this guy one time and never returned. I felt like I was being interrogated the whole time. I have suffered from depression and anxiety for a long time and have tried many different medications that have not worked for me. He acted like I was lying and then as we are discussing the symptoms he stops our conversation and all of the sudden states that he does not fill out forms for disability. Um, did I say anything about disability? I work full time despite my severe depression. When he asked if anything did help I told him that the most effective thing I have taken was Xanax for my anxiety. Not on a regular basis but just when my anxiety gets really bad for panic attacks. When I said this he said "I'm not going to prescribe that" and acted like I was some kind of druggie just trying to get pills. I've never felt such a lack of compassion or mistrust from a psychiatrist, which is saying a lot because I have met some bad ones in my day. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I've been a patient of Dr. Acosta for more than a few years....He is not a doctor with a "cure" ; yet has helped me so very much to help myself through very difficult times (past & present). And THAT is his job to help people, help themselves. He is strict with medication as I would hope & pray all Dr.'s would be. His staff is professional & very compassionate. He is a Christian, & that was very important to me in choosing him as a Psychiatrist. I also appreciate his dry sense of humor! Have recommended him many times.

An arrogant man who will not work with the patient and refuses to even acknowledge a second opinion. His feelings are easily hurt if you question his diagnosis.
