Following diagnosis of appendicitis by primary physician, emergency hospitalization with administration of IV antibiotics and pain meds, and a 9-hour wait for Dr. Topper to appear on a Super Bowl Sunday, Dr. Topper examined and stated "You're too old for appendicitis and we don't do exploratory surgery for a tummy ache" and discharged. Nine days later, when antibiotics wore off, appendix ruptured requiring emergency appendectomy. Peritonitis and brachial plexopathy with bi-lateral phrenic nerve paralysis resulted (later diagnosed by IUPUI). Ten years and much suffering later, partial right diaphramatic paralysis remains, breathing is accomplished by upper chest expansion and right lung colapsed during general anesthesia for dissection of mucinous adenocarcinoma of cecum (colon cancer). Don't have a website but do have supporting evidence. d-l-c@insightbb.com.
