This man refused to help my mother with her knee problem. According to my mother, his demeanor was off. If I'm wrong, Lord forgive me, but I think he didn't care because my mother is African American. Again, forgive me Lord if I'm wrong. Tour job is to help patients, not insert your own opinion and think you're correct.

Be prepared to wait and be disappointed. I waited at least 45min to 1.15 mins on average per appointment. Additionally, after I had my MRI I was actually given my diagnosis by the nurse over the phone. I requested to speak to Dr. Gillespy and was told you can speak to him at your pre-op appointment. They set up all the surgery details, PT, etc.... and my only chance to speak with him was at the pre-op. ??? Pre-op appointment day I waited 50 mins again in the room. This time I can hear the doctor talking about dogs and property to one of the nurses while I waited again. I left my room and went into the area where the doctor was sitting and told him exactly what I thought of his practice and how I was treated. All I got was his an attempt to give me a "fist pump". I left, cancelled my surgery and i'm going to a Ortho in Orlando. No one called from the office to apologize or try and get me to come back. I wish I had checked his reviews before I book an appointment!

This drs office full of incompetence. They dont care about their patients at all. They dont even work towards their patients getting better. I was hopeful the negative reviews of this place were bs but sadly they r true. Do not waste your time at this office. If its workers comp request a change right away. I've been in sever pain for months. All they did was 3 days of PT and send me on my way because I was making a stink about me not getting the care I needed. I'm not saying this just cause I'm upset. I also dont want other people to have to suffer like I am because of these terrible people.

I was very nervous after an accident surfing that left me temporarily paralyzed. I had spinal surgery with Dr. Mark Gillespy and his brother Dr. Albert Gillespy and they did an outstanding job! I have had very little discomfort, within a day I was feeling much better and I am on my way to a full recovery. I cannot say how blessed I feel about the care and compassion I received from Dr. Mark Gillespy, Dr. Albert Gillespy and the staff at The Orthopedic Clinic. Thanks and God Bless you.

All I have to say is he replaced my hip, it failed, and he sat by and watched over 3 months as my hip dislocated 8 times and refused to go in and fix his screw up. Maybe it was because he did the surgery live on the www to promote himself. He was so busy patting himself on the back during the surgery I think he positioned everything with one hand behind his back. I found a competent surgeon who instantly treated me, requiring 2 more surgeries due to to lack of care provided by this 'doctor". He even accused me of "purposely" dislocating my own hip for the pain meds! Idiot.

I went into the hospital for a surgery to get rid of mrsa infection that i got after he did a surgery on my broken femur. when the mrsa surgery was over, I ended up with a knee problem! he is very rude and thinks only his opinions matter. he does not care or even want to hear anyone else's opinion- even yours. i also think he quickly forms opinions about his patients. if he doesn't like you for whatever reason he can be a real pain in the butt (my example is taking away my medications i need for pain). he thinks he runs the show and i don't want him as a doctor but i cannot do anything about it because i am in the hospital still. i think he made a mistake while doing my mrsa surgery and messed up my knee but he won't even admit it's a possibility. i would not recommend this doctor to anyone. the only person that deserves any credit that works for him is nurse sherry at his office. good job nurse sherry and i appreciate your kindness and genuine love and care for dr. g's patients.

He has the ability to work with challenging patients and is willing to entertain unorthodox methods, at the patient's request, provided it does not interfere medically. He inherited me from his brother due to complications relating to my anatomy. I had higher than normal risk factors. Surgery went beautifully. No complications occurred. Rehabilitation time is in the 3 month range - I am 6 weeks post-surgery and have been released from PT due to surpassing all the milestones, and am only waiting for final confirmation that the prosthesis is solidly grounded to be permanently released. The surgeon is excellent and the bedside manner is (mostly) well mannered. He has exuded a sincere desire to help people resolve their orthopaedic issues as efficiently and expeditiously as possible. I would heartily recommend, without issue, Mark Gillespy.

I was referred for a surgery consultation by his father, another Dr in the practice. After waiting for him to finish a phone call in which I could hear him yelling at someone, he then came into the room where I was. I explained my issues to him and how his father had said I was a candidate for back surgery and he was very rude to me. His response to me was that I was not a candidate for surgery because, "You smoke, you’re fat and you are going to be dead by 50!" What an excellent bedside manner. No suggestions just a rude comment. I would not recommend him to anyone!!!!

Biography

Dr. Mark C. Gillespy is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a long time resident of the Daytona Beach area. He is the son of Dr. Thurman Gillespy Jr., who founded The Orthopedic Clinic in 1961, and joined the practice his father started after completing his residency in 1992. Dr. Gillespy is passionate about developing and perfecting innovative methods to treat his patients so they experience shorter hospitalization and faster recovery times. His total hip joint replacement surgeries are performed through a direct anterior approach, which avoids cutting of any hip muscles. He is also one of the few doctors in the Daytona area who performs Birmingham Hip Resurfacing surgery. This innovative technique preserves more of the patient’s original joint. He’s perfected minimally invasive approaches to help patients with spinal disc conditions, spinal fractures, and spinal fusion surgeries.
