Who tells a patient its my word against yours!!!! Thank you for nothing sending me away from Emergency, telling me you don't know what's wrong! I went for a second opinion, was sent immediately to the U of A via ambulance. 2 blood transfusions later! almost bleeding out note to self to never see you EVER again.

Lets begin by saying, even if you were not a dr. Would you not think someone had more than a constipation issue if they lost 60 lbs and could not eat. Not Leon Burger, just up the laxative each visit. Would you not order a simple ultrasound and blood work. Could not see another Dr. In town because they don't want to tick off the chief of staff. By the time the issue was found out at the St. Albert hospital major surgery was required and my dad was never fully to regain from it. This put the floor pedal to his mild dementia at the time. He came back to Athabasca only to once again be treated like a dog. Given medication that was black labeled to ensure not given to anyone with dementia since it speeds it up. We fought and threatened before we could get Dr. Burger to stop giving it to my dad. I could write a book on how little Dr. Burger cared. I am sure a vet would care more. I guess this is what happens when you think you a high and mighty chief. Beware Seniors

Dr.Burger is a nice man and can be a helpful doctor if the problem is very very minimal, like a rash or ear infection. He is not good at discussing sexual problems with girls though. The process of getting birth control pills and talking about periods is very uncomfortable with him. which i find unprofessional. When he does give out medications he never seems to know any of the side effects. He put me on this one stomach medication without telling me that one of the main side effects was lactation. The wait times can be terrible to, usually the minimum time you sit in the office is 30 minutes.

When Leon first moved to Athabasca, I had a different dr but stopped going to them as soon as I got in with Leon. Now that I have moved away, I'd like to still go see Dr. Burger. He would always listen to what my problem was, then diagnose from there. And if he couldn't help, he'd refer me to someone who could. Also very pleasant to deal with when you see him away from the office. My only issue is the hour wait before you get to see him, but it is worth it to me.

Dr. Burger is a very good family doctor. He is caring and compassionate but I feel he could be a little more up to date in his field. That being said, I put a lot trust in him. I do not find the staff rude, but I wish they would put in a different telephone system. It can take a long time to get through. I always plan on at least 30 minutes after my appointment time to see any of the doctors in the clinic.

A pleasure to deal with in and outside office; very efficient office staff, is spite of an extremely tough task of pleasing everyone, including patients, patients' families, doctors, doctors' families, and lastly their own families. Well done over 11 years, you all!
