I work at CKHA, therefore was quite aware of Dr. DePass, had not heard anything negative about him. Then on Oct 25/07, he operated on my husband for a hernia repair, everything that could have possibly gone wrong did. His attitude was atrocious, and he knew me, what was he like with people he didn't know. My husband was handed a death sentence, since his wonderful surgery, he has had to have a colostomy, most people would have it on either the right side, or left, not so in the case of my husband, it's under his breastbone, a double stoma, as there was too much scar tissue and yes hernias to put it anywhere else. He also has cancer in several areas, my husband had retired the end of July and the sugery was Oct, and it's been a living hell since, so much for retirement. I would have more confidence in my Vet operating on me than DePass. I would hope that his license is revoked forever and that he can never hurt anyone ever again.

Dr. Depass operated on me in October 2002 shortly after coming to Ontario, initially I thought he was the best, a regular Marcus Welby until I had an infection that lasted 6 months, numerouse perscriptions for pain medication and a home care nurse coming every day for many many months, only to find out that I had a cyst that was never removed. I was diagnosed with Chron's and fortunately I finally decided on a second opinion which I got in London to find out there was never any evidence of Chron's this after Dr. Depass indicated to me that I may need a coloscopy. Once I thought I may need to wear a bag for the rest of my life I decided on the second opinion....I feel that Dr. Depass continually covered up one mistake after another and another, etc. Thank God he has now been found out in Chatham, hopefully the next province he applies to will check him out more thoroughly than Chatham did so he does not have the opportunity to hurt more people. Wish I never had him, my life sucks now

As a patient of Dr DePass at Queens General He performed an Umbilical repair, what I considered a minor hernia operation. I had been for warned of Dr DePass'record regarding post op complications but failed to take heed, like I said condidering this proceedure to be minor in nature. The day following the operation infection set in. I was treated for this infection by Dr Depass but ultimately had to see another Dr in Halifax as the infections continued for about one and a half years. At the time I was in good physical shape working out every day. It goes without saying those complications ended my program.

His bedside manner, and kindness?? has nothing to due with his skills OR lack of, "knowledge"! I am a nice person too...do you just let anyone do surgery on you/family?? he has admitted, and left another province. now practicing here and again he is being investigated by the Collage of Phys and Surgeons WHAT DOSE THAT TELL YOU? OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE! he maybe nice but he lacks skill/knowledge in the operation room what matters

In 2005 my dad was operated on for colon cancer by another doctor who went on vacation the next day. Dr. DePass was assigned as his replacement doctor. My dad was put into a ward, fell out of bed 3 times before the nurses told us what happened. He was hallucinating and became very aggressive. We had to go to the hospital at 7 am to try to get a few minutes to speak with Dr. Depass. No one would give us any information as to why my father was going through these aggressive stages and hallucinating. We asked what meds he was on, we were always told nothing. When we finally did talk to Dr DePass, yes he came across as concerned and willing to answer our questions. When we asked what meds my father was on to cause these reactions, his only comment was it could be the gravol. Two days before he was to leave the hospital he went into septic shock. Dr. DePass performed a second surgery on my dad who was unconcious for a week and died from kidney failure. Now he's back in the news.

Dr.Depass is probably the most competent surgeon in the Chatham-Kent area. I not only had Dr.DePass operate but when my own Dr.(Galbraithe) misdiagnosed, It was Dr.DePass who was on duty that night who took charge diagnosed, monitored and eventually operated.I am pleased to say that given the seriousness of the operation and the failure of at least two others that suffered thorough complications from other surgeons I am eternally grateful.Chatham-Kent should be proud to have a surgeon of this calibre in their midst

I was fortunate to have Dr. DePass in emergency where I had to go because of a terrible infection from a biopsy that another of Chatham-Kent's surgeons performed on me. I found him to have an excellent bedside manner and he joked with me as he cleaned up the mess left by the other surgeon. I would trust him with my life! I have recommended him to everyone I have talked to.

My experience with this Doctor was unforgetable, forever. He was on time, smiled and was kind while he was watching my mother die. He answered questions politely, I trusted that they were correct. No one is perfect, I'm well aware of that. But I do expect any doctor to recognize all and any signs of problems when they claim to know what they are doing. This Doctor not only overlooked he stood by his decsions. Facts are facts. Hiding your mistakes is unmentionably the worst any doctor can do. That tells me that this so-called doctor cared more for himself then his patient. I trusted this man with my precious loved one.I was suppose to trust. He has a licence, a title. I was so wrong for not doing my research. My fault, I'll take blame for my part. He hasn't for his though. His lack of knowledge cost a life.I not only blame him, I blame the people who allow him to continue. Learn from my mistakes, puctuality and a kind smile don't save lives. Research can! www.cpso.on.ca

This doctor continued to care for my dad despite numerous requests to transfer him to London. By the time he was transfered, at our insistance, my dad lost both legs and went into kidney failure. The London doctors could not beleive the mess he made of my dad and they said that he would have been dead by morning had I not demanded his transfer. Within 2-3 days of being in London (and away from Depass) he improved and came off the machines that he had been on under Depass's care for over a month. I'm scared of what he could do next. There are reason's why he left the east Coast. Hopefully people read this before my message is taken off, like all the other negative ones about Depass.

Please do not use this surgeon. He is careless and lacks knowledg and skill. He cut my dad's toe off in his room rather than taking him to the OR just to make his racket ball time. He acted like he knew what he was doing - never consulted with anyone - and he cost my dad both his legs and kidney function. He puts you at risk. London University Hospital surgeons said my dad weould have died is he remained in that care. Thankk God a nurse pushed for my dad's transfer
