Dr. LaCouvee is excellent, very caring and competent. Most of the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful but there is one there that is always unhappy, unhelpful and condescending. She never smiles and is inept at doing most things to help patients. She gets flustered easily and can’t even make a simple attachment to an email. She will even bill you for a simple administrative task.

Dr LaCouvee is the best there is. Dr LaCouvee and all of his staff are extremely genuine and knowledgeable. From the moment you come into the office you are cared for. You are in great hands here. Phenomenal dentist.

Arbutus Dental is a perfect family dental office. My 3 kids (grown now) went here and have beautiful healthy teeth and no fear of going to the dentist. So lucky to have found you!

I went to Arbutus dental twice. Once for a cleaning with an amazing hygienist and once for a filling with Dr La Couvee. What a wonderful experience! (and I don't like dentists visits!!) The hygienist was very friendly and did a fantastic job on my cleaning. She explained what she was doing. My filling visit with Dr La Couvee was similar, he was very friendly, and thorough and explained what he was doing and how long it was going to take. The dental assistant was also fantastic. All in all, a great experience and I feel confident to keep going back there!

Dr. Francis Lacouvee is a wonderful dentist. However, his admin staff are cold, unhelpful, and rarely take in, or seem to care, about relevant information I share with them. For example, I have a legal matter pending that personally concerns Dr. Lacouvee, but his admin staff actually refused to give me his email address, or some way to contact him directly, making it impossible to reach him privately. So sadly, I had to let Dr. Lacouvee go as my dentist because I can no longer tolerate his admin staff's lack of care, concern, and professionalism. Since it's the front end workers that clients are forced to deal with, so if they aren't top notch, clients will inevitably move on to service providers who treat them with dignity and respect...as I have done.

I have always enjoyed having Dr. Francis Lacouvée as my dentist. His hygienists have mostly been great as well. However, his reception staff leave much to be desired. They always seem harried and confused, are often unable to explain things, seem unable to remember what has been told to them, and are generally unfriendly and unhelpful. I can't help but wonder if Dr. Lacouvée is aware of what a poor impression his receptionists leave with his customers. I am currently seeing a new dentist because of the unhelpful, bordering on rude, behavior of his receptionists. There ought to be a 0 rating as an option.

We switched from Bayview dental some years ago after a few bad experiences and moved our files to Arbutus Dental - a good decision judging from our smiles and good health.

Dr. LaCouvee is easily the most responsive, diligent and thoughtful dentist my husband and I have had since moving to Qualicum Beach. Arbutus Dental staff are polite, well organized and diligent and the office is a pleasure to visit. The hygienists and dental assistants always do a good job - and we always leave the clinic that little bit better. We've had some dental emergencies over the years and Dr. Francis and Dr. Gooch always found space in their schedule to cement in a lost veneer or replace a cap in a hurry - always with good results. They are very gentle, provide reliable pain management, and do thorough follow-up checks. QB is a small town and a good smile is the best advertisement of professional acumen. The best smiles in town are due to the good work of Arbutus Dental.
