Dr. Hauser is an amazing Doctor and teacher. He has helped me in the most mind blowing ways. He is extremely bright and at his core is a good and honest human being, although at times he does appear distant, cold and self centered. These are hard times we are in, and we're all affected in some way, Docs aren't spared of this. I pray we all remember our better selves and conduct ourselves in ways that would make our Mothers proud.

I am a new patient, referred by my psychologist. Very rageful and suicidal when coming off meds, put me on a med that doesnt even appear to be working; when told about my thoughts of harm, he was not concerned, only prescribed me more (of a different type) of medicine. My medical doctor was very concerned for me, but Dr. Hauser and his nurse did not seem concerned that I could have hurt myself or someone else...looking for a new doctor :(

Dr. Hauser has mood swings that are unpredictable - one day nice, another day just awful! He bills you $220 for a therapy session even if he spends about 90 seconds with you on the telephone. If you don't pay him on time, he will withold services from you - even if those services have the potential to cause you grave harm. Not worth the money for the few minutes he gives you and with him, it is all about the money!

Overprescribes and is not knowledgeable enough to know about reactions between medications. Prescribed my roommate with so many uppers and downers that when she finally switched docs, they were horrified at the doses he had her on. For me, he prescribed a drug with debilitating withdrawal effects and I was nearly suicidal when trying to taper off of it and go on something else. He NEVER advised me of these withdrawal effects even though they are WELL documented with research. All he wanted to talk about in my appointments was which commercial developments my boss, a Realtor, was working on. Rarely focused on ME. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy.

Highly knowledgeable and professional. Good rapport. Conservative in dispensing medication, waiting to see how one prescription may affect me before possibly adding another. The only complaint is that I had to wait a few weeks to see this doctor which is not unusual for the Iowa City area.

Dr Hauser took his time obtaining a thorough medical history. When medication was prescribed, he explained, in detail, the possible side effects as well as the amount of time it may take for the medication to become effective. Dr Hauser was professional in his interaction with me and, at the same time, I was put at ease by his friendly manner. I was very impressed and would highly recommend this doctor.

It was almost insulting how quickly he prescribed me antidepressants. Thank goodness my insurance fully covers his costs; otherwise I'd feel ripped off.

Be prepared to feel completely ignored and not listened to. Is known in the community as a "pill dispenser". If you've any interest in treating the CAUSES of your problem, don't see him. If you want to up your dosage and try a ton of different medications, he's your guy. I won't go back.
