I have been a patient for the past 18 years. His staff are always kind and caring. Dr. McIntosh has never rushed me through an exam. He has always been thorough, if there has ever been a time of question, he does not hesitate in refering me. Ten years ago I was diagnosed with a very serious medical condition. He was so concerned he called me at home. Yes, he has a bit of a gruff exterior, but as gruff as he is, he is as kind and as thoughtful. And, as much as I don't like his honesty, I wouldn't want him to be any other way. He doesn't pull punches.

Our whole family sees this doctor. He is knowledgeable, and if he does not know - he is not afraid to admit it and find out. He has helped us with many issues. We have a range of health problems, and he is always trying to accommodate us for appointments and is very helpful. He is a little too honest perhaps, which may bother some people, but I like it about him. A very good doctor.

My mom is his patient and she has a hard time getting him to listen. He ignored her complaints and blood results for a long time. Not till she insisted she was feeling really bad that he sent her to a heart dr. He knows she has heart problems. Heart dr. said she was over medicated and he changed her meds. He put her on diabetis pills took her off and then put her back on again. My dad had him when he was dying and the dr. had a really bad bedside manner with my dad. While my dad was laying in bed dr. came in room and looked at him and said well he only has 2 to 3 hours left to live. Now who in their right mind would say that in front of a patient. when he said that my dads eyes opened up wide with fright in them. To me that shows a very bad bedside manner. He calls my mom in to see him and when she gets there he says what do you want and why are you here. Pretty dumb since he is the one who asked her to come in. So in my opinion do not go to him. Find another doctor.

Dr. Robert MacIntosh has been our family doctor since 1992 and has seen our family through cancer, death of two husbands in our family and he has been compassionate, carring, honest, does appropriate referrals when necessary, and likes the patient to be involved in their own care. He listens to the patient and gives the patient credit for knowing their own body when necessary. I give him top marks overall as a physcian.

Dr. MacIntosh has been my physician since I moved to Penticton in 2001. At that time I just considered myself lucky to get a doctor. Now I consider myself lucky that it was him. Very thorough, relaxed, unassuming and easy to talk with, he is knowledgeable and obviously keeps himself up-to-date with changes in his profession. I’ve found him to be very considerate of my opinions to treatment based on past experiences regarding my health.

Dr. MacIntosh is humble and open minded as well as being knowledgeable. He has been my family's physician for approximately 20 years, and while we have had our differences I couldn't ask for a better doctor. He LISTENS and gives as much information as you're willing to hear. He's not afraid to refer out or send you to a specialist. He's compassionate and cares.
