After three years of disputing my lab bill with Torres' office and BC/BS, I am currently paying a $430 bill for blood work that should have been covered by my insurance. Dr. Torres and I discussed my insurance and I insisted that "routine" blood work would not be covered and that it would have to be deemed "medically necessary." Dr. Torres seemed to understand this and agreed. My insurance claim was initially coded incorrectly and was submitted a second time as "routine." Dr. Torres would not code the bill as medically necessary and so I am liable for the cost. To think blood work is not medically necessary is ludicrous. I was a new patient and Dr. Torres would be negligent if she did not order blood work based on my history, age, pre-existing issues. Again, she listened to me explain that I did NOT want to pay for routine blood work but in the end, she simply refused to change the code. BC/BS even contacted her re changing the code, but she simply refused and my insurance company said they could not over-ride her decision. I found Torres' blatant refusal to change the code to what we agreed on to be like an obstinate power struggle. I'm retired and on a fixed income and a $430 bill for lab work that would have been covered by my insurance, which I also pay for, is inexcusable.
My second experience with Dr. Torres and her office staff is also inexcusable. I was scheduled for a PAP test and drove 20 miles to the appointment to find the office was closing due to water issues. I rescheduled a second appointment and waited in the office for 45 minutes only to find the receptionist forgot to tell Torres I was there. Torres was still at the office, but she refused to make time to see me, so I had to reschedule again. When I did finally see her for the PAP exam during my third appointment, an office worker entered the exam room and she and Dr. Torres carried on a lengthy conversation in Spanish while she was actually performing the PAP. I felt ignored and angry.
In 2014 I had relocated from Michigan and had to find a doctor who was approved by my BC/BS of Michigan insurance. I saw Dr. Torres in 2015 and waited to write this review because I thought my feelings for this doctor would change and I wanted to be fair. My experience with Dr. Torres still leaves me angry and I can't imagine why I was treated with such dismissive disregard by a health care provider.

Dr Torres is an awesome Dr. She is so helpful, explains things so I can understand. Dr Torres cares about those who come to see her. She has a passion for her patients that comes threw. Never rushes me and is always listening to what I am saying. Even if I have a question as we are leaving the exame room she stops to take the time to answer that question. Patients can tell if the Dr really cares. Dr Torres Cares. If every Dr cared about the patient as much as she does the medical field would be so Blessed. Maybe I should say that we the people needing a Dr care would be the blessed ones. I pray Dr Torres stay her in the Valley to grow her medical career.

Dr Torres is very helpful and very knowledgeable. She took the time to listen to my concerns, and recommended a course of treatment while explaining things very clearly and in a manner that I could understand.
