I was a patient of Dr. Marek for 27 years. The only issue was that the wait time to see him in the clinic was long most of the time. A few years before he retired, those wait times got much shorter. My family and I absolutely loved him. He made you feel comfortable and you could inquire about anything. I wish he was still my doctor. Since he retired, we can't keep a doctor at the clinic for more that a year an people are suffering and dying because the care is just rushed and there's a language barrier that is impacting the quality of patients care.

Although it took a long time to see him at times,by far one or the best doctors I have ever had. Dr. Marek, has treated me since I was a little girl. He always treated me with much care.

Best family doctor I’ve ever had! He’s been my family doctor my whole life and has always made time for my family and I, always going the extra mile. Is definitely missed here in stephenville!

Some years ago, I had depression and felt suicidal after going through a rough time in my life. I was brought to the ER by mental health services while Dr. Smolarkiewicz was on call. When told that I had been feeling suicidal, he said something along the lines of not wanting to bad enough or I would have went to Canadian Tire and bought a gun. What a jerk!

Very selfish person who is always on holiday. On one occasion, I was booked for an eleven o'clock appointment (as were the other fifty people waiting) and he strolls in at four, with golf bags on his shoulder. He is very unsupportive of anyone with their indian status, claiming that they are mooching. Who is a bigger mooch? you who came to this country and abuses every privilege you are given, or me, who is forced to have you as a doctor? Ship this guy out on the first boat!

He is barely ever in his office. It takes months to get an appointment because they "DON"T HAVE HIS SCHEDULE". That's because he is either at the emergency department or on holiday's. When you are lucky enough to get an appointment, he will only discuss one medical issue, you have to book another appointment if there is anything else wrong with you. Maybe that's why it takes up to six hour's to see a doctor at emerg.

Get in and get out. Who really cares what is wrong with you? His lack of compassion for people actually make me want to avoid going back to him. Totally heartless!

when this doctor is in the office, he is kind and caring, but he is seldom in the office. he leaves the area very often and he is impossible to get an appointment with. he seldom does referrals to specialists, choosing instead to treat your condition with antibiotics. he needs to make up his mind whether he will work in the Stephenville area, or in Mexico or wherever he spends his time.
