I was treated by Dr Cuellar and spent quite a good amount of time under his care. I moved from the area and don't see him anymore, but it was really interesting reading the reviews from other patients and decided to write mine. Based on my experience, i can say that most of the reviews (good and not so good) are to some extend correct. I personally think he is a great doctor and was able to handle his actitud with no problem. I understand some people are sensitive to be treated certain way, and I am so sorry it didn't work for them. I strongly believe that Dr Cuellar just wants to help his patients in the best way he can, and at times he may seem to be frustrated when we don't listen to him or follow his directions. When i needed him in an emergency instance, he was very helpful and caring. I tried other doctors but always returned to him as it is very easy to get appoitments with him---he kind of became my primary doc as he could see me right away when i felt sick (not like other doctors who were available 3-5 days after the symptoms were gone). He is definitely an interesting person. Sometimes he would explained his approach in great detail and went the extra mile, but other times i felt he did not wanted to be questioned; he just wanted me to trust him. He treated my acid production for over 6 months. Before he begun the treatment, he ordered a comprehensive series of lab work to rule out any malign disease followed by a colonoscopy. Fortunately, the root of the problems was due to prolong increased acid production caused by eating disorders and mainly stress. Having this condicion for so long, it started affecting other organs to the point that I felt miserable; so at that time, I didn't believe treating the acid was the right aproach, but in the long term, it proof he was absolutely right. As of today, still follow his recomendations of not eating after 6 pm to garantee a good sleep and waking up feeling good. I will always be grateful with him for those long conversations that make me realize that stress and my eating habits were not only distroying my well being but also my relationship with my family. Dr Cuellar and his holistic approach worked wonderfully for me and will definitely recomend him to anyone looking for a doctor that treats the "cause" not just the symptoms with unnecessary medications.

I am so happy with Dr. Cuellar, he is compassionate and listens to my concerns. I have been seeing him for a couple of years, and have recommended him to so many people, especially when they get to the age when they need a colonoscopy. I feel very comfortable now at his office and with his staff. Couldn't recommend him more.

Very pleasant and helpful doctor. I was consuming a lot of healthy food and supplements and I felt I was doing good but had a lot of stomach problems. He made me see that I was overweight, eating too much and too late. I initially didn't like this, but I'm glad he told me the truth because when I changed my lifestyle I got better.

I'm not sure why the 2 previous bad reviews. My appointments with Dr. Cuellar have been prompt, I have found him a very caring physician who -for a change- was very interested in my health. I have a very complicated disease and have found many doctors not paying much attention to me. However, Dr. Cuellar and his staff did wonders for me. He has been my doctor for several years and I find him very caring for his staff and runs his practice very professionally. I'm sure the people who gave bad reviews previously were simply having a bad day. I am sure, if you give Dr. Cuellar a chance you will be pleased with his care. He is an honest, kind and knowledgeable doctor that will make every effort to take care of you.

EXTREMELY CONDESCENDING If you are the type of patient that wants to understand your condition, and or have any medical knowledge, this Doctor does not want you. He does not want you to ask questions and teach you about your possible medical condition. HEaven help you if you rate medically knowledgeable as if does not like to to be questioned. In addition, in front of patients he teats his staff poorly, as if they a extremely lucky to work for him. As I told my referring Physician, I would never ever refer this man, nor will he ever touch me.

Any of you that actually have a procedure done by this docter will change your reviews. Rafael is extremely caring in the office, which is deceiving. He likes to tell everyone it's in their mind and that's not true. I got a procedure done and he was extremely rude, uninformative and distant. He didn't seem like he cared at all which really made my spouse angry as I layed there in pain. I will never go back to him again and hope that no one ever has a procedure done by him again. He wasn't gentle at all during the procedure. I dare anyone to say this is wrong because my next reply will be in detail and have proof that I am right about this docter. I'm actually reporting him to the medical board of California today due to some things that have happened to me because of this surgery and the way I was treated afterwards.

Staff was very professional, helpful, compassionate. Dr. Cuellar is a little hard to understand, but knowledgeable in his field. He's easy to talk to about very personal matters, and seems to really care.

Dr. Cuellar is an extremely compasionate person. He diagnosed my problem and spoke with me about it for an hour my first visit. He has a very holistic approach to medicine. I would go to him anytime, and have referred friends to his care. They feel the same way about him. Excellent!
