This is my bad experience with Dr. Edsel Ing. I went with my father to close his eye. Cause last appointment we get agree to do that. But today when we went to his office, he refused to do that cause he was busy. He told us to come after 4 hour when he get free. But our appointment was at 8 in the morning. Also he talk like crazy with us. Maybe he was drunk. He didn’t talk like professional way. And he told us he is paying for everything even my father has his madical insurance. This is surprised me. And I feel this is very rude. Another issue I want comments seriously that, when we went to doctor Ing’s office they test with my father. And when Dr. Ing came he also checked. And he still told us that we should close his eye. Cause he has still fractured. But he never told us that the eye is improving from fractures. Which he must tell or talk with us. Cause if we close that eye that will be for whole life. I don’t know why he didn’t mentioned to us. But we are lucky that we didn’t do that. So we went to another doctor and she checked and told us that my father eye is getting little better now. We shouldn’t do that now. But my opinion is About Dr. Edsel Ing is he should talk and explain to the patient about everything. Cause we are not doctor. We should understand what is better solution for us. If we ask any questions he should explain to us nice and gentle way. This is about our body parts. And be professional. Don’t just get rude or upset. Also his secretary and receptionist should learn maner. And they should present the paper to sing up if we agree with the doctor.

Hands down the worst staff I have ever encountered in my life. One woman in particular is a nightmare to deal with. I've found myself wishing I had seen a different doctor just so I didn't have to deal with her when I go there.
Dr. Ing himself is brilliant and quirky and very knowledgeable. He did my strabismus surgery which may or may not have been a failure as my eye is wandering again very soon after surgery. if you don't live in Toronto it is unnerving because you can't call and ask if something is normal. If you do call the receptionist will make you feel stupid for calling and say "fine you can come to office tomorrow and wait 4 hours to be seen if he has time." and feels that's entirely an acceptable tone. When I called about an infection in my eyelid she said she couldn't make an appointment and I'd just have to drive to Toronto and hope to be seen but I had to be there for 10am and wait 3-4 hours or more." If you have to work or need a real time frame she will say "Don't come then, I dont care". I ended up having my infection treated at a local hospital.

When I came in for a follow up she berated me for having my spouse set up my appointment so i wouldnt have to interact with her. I could never ever ever ever recommend this place based solely on the disorganized and moody staff.

Dr Ing did my strabismus surgery and I am very happy with the results. Not only is he a skilled surgeon, he has great bedside manner. When it was time for my surgery he came to the waiting room to take me to the OR himself, which is uncommon for surgeons. It was a very nice gesture. Sometimes there is a long wait at his office, however he does treat patients who are going blind or have rare cancers. This takes priority people with less urgent needs, which is completely understandable!

I am more than happy with what Dr. Ing has done for me. Thank you for having a good sense of humor and being personable. You are a cut above other surgeons.

I had a cataract operation done 5 years ago. My eyelid was drooping so I was advised to see Dr. Ing for an uplift. One look at my eye and he told me that a piece of cataract was still in. Surprising because I had seen so many eye specialist in Sunnybrook Hospital in the last 5 years and no one noticed a piece of cataract left in. Thank you Dr. Ing.

Respect Dr Ing but keeps you waiting til end of day for reconstruction surgery! Seems inpatient some times. Not comfortable waiting area at all.
Perhaps larger surgery area would help alleviate claustrophobic feeling of surgery room.
All would be better in more comfortable
surroundings without all those files very visible , too cramped!!
I think all agree his STAFF are just abominable. Just get rid of them you may find better mood of patients.

Extremely long wait times in his office. When we finally got in to see him after 4 hour wait, I commented on the wait time and Dr Ing started to yell at me in front of my toddler. I asked him to calm down and then the Dr started to cry. Yes. He wept. He kept muttering about having too many patients and he just wants to help my son learn to drive! My son is a toddler. At this point I was scared for our safety. It was beyond unprofessional. Dr. Ing is too unstable to be seeing patients. He needs to look after his own health. His staff were kind but clearly working under terrible conditions.

Doctor is great, i had surgery with him before. He's kind and welcoming, he answered all the questions I had about the operation. However, the staff is snarky and rude. I hate interacting with them.

Dr. Ing is the best! He fixed my strabismus beautifully. In addition to his skills as a surgeon, I was really impressed by his kindness and caring attitude. I felt that he saw me as a person, not just as a case. He put me at ease with his sense of humour even in the operating room. Toronto is a three-hour drive from our home, but it was well worth the long drive to all the appointments and surgery, to be looked after by such an outstanding professional.

I arrived, was immediately tested, and Dr. Ing came promptly. Very good rapport, efficient testing, good explanation of condition and options, took time to test a number of lens options. I found him intelligent, organized, articulate, and reasonable in every way. I feel lucky to have been referred to him. I highly recommend him.
