I cannot say enough good things about Charlie. To say he goes the extra mile is an incredible understatement. His work schedule is something like 6am to 2pm in the hospital and then directly to his office until at least 10pm most days seeing patients. My experience with Dr. Messer is that he cared a great deal and was very patient with me and the time it took for me to become well again. Like others have said, he's direct, which at first is startling but I quickly grew to appreciate it because we got to the core of problems quickly and efficiently. Charlie truely cares for his patients and he absolutely loves his work. As far as I know Dr. Messer is still publishing and at least presenting in his field which shows a lot more committment than 95\% of other psychiatrists out there from what I understand. This man will never just give you a pill and show you the door. He will work his heart out for you and your well being. He'll spend hours upon hours with you if need be.

Dr. Messer seems to have more psychiatric problems than most of the patients he treats. A real nut job. But I suppose that is why he can communicate so well with patients since he is on the same level. Being late for his patients does not show much respect. This nut-job is the biggest pharma drug pusher of the city and should be charged with crimes against humanity as most psychiatrists should be..This guy needs to be locked up in an insane asylum with daily shots of LSD, then perhaps he will see the light of how many lives he has ruined and how the psychiatric industry is the most unethical, evil and damaging sector of medicine.

Saw him years ago when I was going through a bad time. He was always prompt, listened well and didn't pull any punches or sugar coat things. Some people might find that offensive but for me it was what I needed. I'm fine now but Dr. Messer was there for me when I needed him. Thanks Doc!

Regina is always short on psychiatrists. This one has not moved on. Now I know why. My son was having difficulty with anxiety & depression. This MD repeated to my EX ... things that were told to him in confidence. The trust factor was broken. This is very hard on a kid still in his teens. Trust and confidentiality should be a "given".

ALTHOUGH A LITTLE LONG IN THE TOOTH, BUT SO AM I, HE IS A GREAT PSYCHIATRIST. CARES AND TREATS HIS PATIENTS WELL, ENSURES THEY ARE LOOKING AFTER THERE OVERALL HEALTH ALSO. YOU MAY HAVE TO WAIT A LITTLE LONGER SOMETIMES FOR YOUR APPOINTMENTS, BUT IF SOME ONE NEEDS A LITTLE EXTRA TIME HE DOES WHAT IT TAKES. TO BAD REGINA DOES NOT HAVE TEN MORE LIKE HIM. ALWAYS HAD HIGHT REGARDS FOR THIS MAN, HELPED ME THROUGH A ROUGH POINT IN MY LIFE.

Dr. Messer is a very brilliant man However his years are catching up with him, and I sometimes wonder if he himself doesn't need some psychiatric help. Dr. messer is a very busy man and sometimes gets off topic. You either really like him or you hate him/

Dr. Messer's expertise and care helped my Mom live quality years, despite her diagnosis and complicating cardiac problem. He also helped us, her family cope and participate in her care plan. Thanks to this, we all were able to make the most of her good health days and help her through the not so healthy days. This man is an incredible diagnostician and has a lot of interests outside of his specialty. I will always love and respect him.

I had this psychiatrist as a second opinion last year and I do believe he helped to save my life! He ordered crucial exams for me that my own shrink at the time would never have thought of. These exams included an MMPI (a written exam), a CT scan, and a brain spect. In four years of being treated I had never been tested like this before and I was very happy about it. However, after the CT scan came back showing that I would need serious surgery(hydrocephalus;fluid on the brain) I was even more happy that I was fortunate enough to have been seen by Dr. Messer. The strange thing I found was that when I thanked him, his reaction was not very kind. I was appalled and confused by his negative remarks. I do believe he is a highly knowledgeable doctor, however, I do think he tends to go off on a bit of a tangent all too often or perhaps he has just been in this business far too long. However, I am still glad to have met this man.
