Dr. Richardson dismissed me within minutes of talking to me. He had no interest in my medical history nor my immediate problem and said "why did you come to see me?" (I had been referred by my primary physician to see a neurologist). He was arrogant, discourteous and if I had not asked questions the visit would have ended even sooner. Dr. Richardson preformed no tests, no evaluation and made no diagnosis. My insurance was billed for an hour's office visit. I wrote a letter detailing my concerns to his office, the referring physician and UnitedHealthCare. None of the three ever responded to me. I would never be his patient again.

Dr. Richardson does not have any kind of "bedside manner". He was rude & insulting to me, and was unprepared for a consultation. Dr. Richardson would probably do better as a veterinarian as he appears to deal with his patients s if they were animals rather than humans.

Dr. Richardson was the only Neurologist to diagnose my Mom's primary progressive aphasia (after I had had her looked at at Stanford and Alta Bates. They missed it!). His diagnosis was confirmed by the Aging clinic at UCSF, one of the premier demetia and Alzheimers diagnosing centers in the nation! He is exceptionally well versed in his field and truly cares for his patients. He does a lot of community service as well. I can not say enough wonderful things about this exceptional physician. He is an excellent diagnostician and a caring human being.

Dr. Richardson acted like a real jerk during my first (and most definitely last) office visit. He was unprepared to discuss my medical condition - I saw him as a follow-up after suffering a mild stroke 2 weeks prior. He had not even bothered to obtain a copy of the MRI report or to go over my case with his associate neurologist who had seen me in the hospital ER at the time of the stroke. Dr. Richardson spent about 3 minutes of the office visit performing the most basic of sensory testing (the kind that even a 1st year nursing student could perform). He spent the remaining 15 minutes talking down to me, ridiculing me and being just plain rude & obnoxious. When I asked him seemingly simple and appropriate questions about my condition and prognosis, he dismissed them and concluded that I had an "anxiety disorder" for which he suggested I seek treatment (this doctor is NOT a mental health practitioner and was totally unfamiliar with my medical history and symptoms). Avoid this quack!
