As for one of the areas top surgeons, he is not. His unwillingness to seek other professional opinions on medical procedure matters is lacking however his willingness to protect and cover up for his collegues mistakes he unmeasurable. Our mother had several bowel reconstructive surgeries performed by Dr. "T", and we nearly lost her on two separate occassions under his care. We took our own advice and when she was in need of yet another bowel reconstruction we headed to Robert Packard.....fortunately, their top surgeon at that time, a Dr. Vanderpool performed the surgery using medical technology that had been in the medical field for several years, and he personally guaranteed that my mother would never need another surgery on her bowel again. That was in 1995...she is still going strong and has yet to need another surgery......prior to going to Dr. Vanderpool for her final surgery, our mother had 9 different surgeries from Dr. "T" to repair his collegues mistake. His arrogance and approach to medicine are at best acceptable for little ol' Binghamton.....my advice is to seek out second opinions and think twice before you let this man operate on you.....

This doctor was such a jerk to me that I ended up not having my surgery done. don't go to him. There are plenty of qualified surgeons out there that will treat you like a human being. unlike him.

Talked me out of getting gastric bypass. Put in a gastric band that slipped on me, wouldn't take out the slipped band and replace until I went to another support group even though I was in pain. I followed all rules and had the 2nd band slip too, almost killed me. Left with lots of scaring and a hernia in my stomach that dr's refuse to fix because of all the scar tissue. And of course now gained all my weight back. Really sucks when you follow directions and get nowhere and have a dr that only cares about making money.

I am a memeber of the bariatric program and I can't begin to tell you how WONDERFUL Dr. T and his staff are. You couldn't ask for a better group and an EXCELLENT surgeon!

Dr. Tvetenstrand is a very focused surgeon. He's matter of fact, to the point, and has a no nonsense approach. I feel that he is an excellent and caring surgeon that wants the very best outcome for his patients. I am a bariatric patient and done very well in his program with the support of the staff and fellow patients - a program where I feel that he has taken the extra step to include behavioral and nutritional counseling in support of the surgical aspect. I feel I made the right decision to give Dr. Tvetenstrand and the Southern Tier Surgical Clinic the opportunity to change my life.

Found Dr. T. to be very helpful and friendly. His staff has been nothing but courteous. All appointments have not only been on time but normally taken in a little early. Excellent surgeon. Found other problems during surgery and corrected that problem which probably saved my life.
