I don't agree at all with the other comments regarding Dr. Albin. Yes, he is an old-school psychiatrist and does conduct talk-therapy in addition to medication, but I think this is a good thing, as opposed to just handing out medicine with virtually no discussion at all (as many newer psychiatrists do). Quite contrary to some of the other reviews, I have found him consistently friendly, intelligent, and jovial. When I first saw him, he diagnosed me acccurately and my condition improved substantially in a fairly short time. I would recommend him to anyone needing a psychiatrist.

This guy is incompetent. Instead of actually trying to get to the root of my problems he simply told me that there was no reason to feel depressed. Prescribed the same medication that I told him gave me horrible side effects with prior experiences. All he does is come up with bizarre Freudian theories that make no sense whatsoever. Very out of touch with current trends in psychiatry. Despite paying out of pocket, Albin charged for me a cancellation with more than 24 hours notice, and no longer gave me appointment priority for the only time I could fit into my schedule. Avoid.

Dr. is dumb. You don't even get $10.00 worth of smarts. He looks like he doesn't know anything about kids, only what he reads in books. He can't remember what he said or what you are there for. He is really old. only my opinion

Psychiatrists are supposed to be empathetic and caring - he seemed aloof, distant, and quick to put you on the defensive. When one's considers the mental fragileness of patients for whom he is to render care, it seems a disservice to the patients to not be friendlier and more sincere. He wants to conduct therapy (even if you have an established therapist) in order to prescribe medication. A very traumatic experience.
