Please, someone investigate this guy! He delivered my first son. He claimed everything was fine although I was bleeding throughout my entire pregnancy. There were defects that showed up on the ultrasound which he never made known to me. It wasn't until the Stollery Hospital had to perform a life saving surgery on my son when he was 5 hours old, that the surgeon said "there's no way your OB couldn't see this." This doctor should never practice again.

I was referred to Dr. Unger for my 1st pregnancy and found him to be a little cold but knowledgeable. I found him even to be funny sometimes. He then delivered my girl and since delivered my boy. His true colours come through during delivery - he is very calm, patient and caring. He performed my son's circumcision with ease and no problems. He may have on a few visits been quick but he is busy. I have seen other nasty GYN's in bc who made me cry but Dr. Unger did not make me feel bad at all. I did have 1 experience where after my 1st pregn. he stitched me up too tightly and commented on the revisit wondering who the heck did that. I laughed and said no intern, YOU!! He couldn't believe it. I wasn't upset at all, actually thanked him as I would now not be sooo stretched!! Go with your gut on doctors as your gut is the only thing telling you what's right and wrong. These days, doctors are different and it is hard to find one that isn't just in it for the money.

Dr.Unger has been my Dr for many years. He delivered both my children by c-section, and I had a very short recovery time with both. He also had me referred to a nurologist because of a comment I had made during my pregnancie about thinking the baby was pushing on a nerve. He had the appointment booked for the next day before I even left the office, with a Nurologist no less. you tell me how someone can or will get that done doesn't care about their patients. He comes accross as rude bacause he is to the point when giving you an answer. If you don't want the truth, don't as the question. How else are you to make an inrofmed decision without the info??If you ask me the reason you see him is for your health not to be buddies.

Excellent doctor. I am 50 and have had a D&C & Hystroscopy 2 years ago. I need another Hystrosopy, and will be trying Monarc subfacial hammock for my bladder. I definetly do not believe in a Hysterectomy unless it's an absolute necessity. I have not started menopause and believe the longer you save everything the less chance of more problems. I have a lot of faith in this man and as far as bed side manner I've seen nothing but good and very good in training his interns. Staff is excellent. Always answers my questions. I try and stay healthy and he knows this, Very Professional. Good job, I refer him to anyone who is new.

I was scared the first time i went to see Dr Unger I was warned about his bedisde manners.... he was so patient with me and explained everything answered all my questions even before I asked them. I will always remeber Dr. Unger because i went into his office expecting someone horrible and i found someone kind. After dealing with pain for 2 years Dr. Unger was able to properly diagnose within a few appt after being reffered to him. He also delivered my baby brother. Very kind man.

It is very fortuitous for anyone involved that he is apparently a good surgeon because he fails badly on the side of medicine which is critical to patient well-being; communicating with your patients. I am an intelligent, responsible person who takes great care of my own health but was talked to in a very condescending, patronizing and authoritative manner. He may be correct in his diagnosis, but instills no confidence and in fact is very intimidating. I don't expect warm and fuzzy, but I do expect some empathy and respect.

I thought Dr.Unger was an excellent surgeon, however he made me feel like I was a Hypochondriac. I had a terrible pain that turned out to be a tumor the size of a golf ball(non-cancerous). He told me the pain I was having was all in my HEAD before he knew what it was. I have since switched doctors.

My experience with this doctor was horrible and I would NEVER see him even if he was the last doctor on the face of the earth. The first time I met him was for surgery. He told me he had never operated on any "so large". He's an obstetrician, how can that be? I don't know why I let him to my surgery in the first place. After the surgery he came to visit me in the hospital room and stayed at the very far end of the room as if I was going to bite his arm or leg off. I personally did not like him. Maybe he has a thing against overweight women. I would not recommend him to anyone.

I am one that he saved..... All I can say is Thank-you! When I was seriously ill, odds not in my favour to make it through, he answered all my questions. Some times you want the goods straight on, no fluff. I was given information and guidance that allowed me to be here today. The surgery that he performed was new at the time, laporoscopic hysterectomy, and my recovery time was nothing. In and out in 22 hours. 8 years I saw him twice a week and his knowledge and professionalism was greatly appreciated. I was not there to make a new best friend, I was there to find a new tomorrow. I found that if I had a questions, he answered it. I sometimes had to ask him to relay the message in patient terminology, but he would. Thank you Dr. Unger, life is great!

I haven't seen him in years and would not recommend ever seeing him again. I can't believe this man is still practising medicine and that people believe he is "god like". The worst bedside manner I have come across - cruel and antagonistist. I come close to vomiting when people speak his name.
