Been seeing Dr McGirr for over 20 years for a back injury. He has operated on my back 4 times. Every time has been pleasant(for having to have surgery) and as planned. His staff is professional, knowledgeable, helpful and easy to work with.

He is a very poor listener. He pays more attention to the MRI than he does to the patient's symptoms and history. He seems rushed and non-caring. He needs some lessons in bed side manner.

He took his time and explained things well and answered my questions. I ended up having surgery and am doing well and am pretty much pain free.

Seemed a bit standoffish. Had to wait so long in the waiting room and with back pain it isn't a bit pleasant! Two subs tested me for various nonsense and questions before doctor came into the exam room. Seemed to me a waste of time that the doctor should have known about himself. More to convince a person a computer should be in each exam room for doctor access for each patient, even computer wise nurse has to be there to use it for him!!

McGirr seems nice - until things go wrong. He destroyed my life, then treated me like a pariah. Did surgery without first studying the condition, so was unaware of typical concurrent condition that can cause bleeding. Result was bleeding into intrathecal space, resulting in arachnoiditis. (Abnormal bleeding without investigation into cause is in his surgical notes. Continuation of surgery, including extension of incision, after abnormal bleeding started is also in the notes.) Staff always rude. Always late, often over an hour, for appointments. He seemed caring and helpful, until the surgery that destroyed my life. Seemed knowledgeable, until I learned the truth about his lack of it regarding the surgery he did on me.
