Just a poor doctor who is a dictator. He refuses to listen to patients views and his idea of help is forcing medications a patient doesn’t want. Then drops a patient for standing up for their rights as a patient. Arrogant Basta.d.

The one time is seen Dr Tarr he called me an alcoholic, I don't drink. Every other time I've gone to the office I get student doctors. Left doesn't know what right is doing. Receptionist tries to charge outrageous prices for signed documents and are very rude.

This guy is a real arrogant rude old man who thinks he is god. With a name like Garnett you shouldn’t insult others.

Dr. Tarr saved my life three years ago. I had pneumonia and spent eight days in Oliver hospital. He is an excellent, thorough, extremely knowledgeable doctor. I cannot believe the negative comments about him are true.

I now suffer from PTSD due to this arrogant, judgemental and rude man that calls himself a doctor. He is an insult to anyone in the profession. He yells at the attending staff. He has temper tantrums like a child and throws medical equipment. I don’t understand how he is allowed to set foot in any hospital with that attitude. Hospitals are for the sick and healing NOT to be bullied, yelled at and belittled.
I wait for the day that he suffer from a horrible illness. I hope he thinks about how badly he treated others at their lowest times.

Dr. I. Panesar went to great lengths to try and determine what was going on with me.
She left no stone unturned. I am very hopeful that she will determine what my medical issues are.

I am actually considering switching doctors, because I feel that issues are not being addressed. The same tests have been done twice in two years, but we never hear any results. We requested a referral to a specialist, which was denied. In the meantime the medical condition worsens. I feel left on my own.

Recently I was asked by a relative who is moving to the Osoyoos area about doctors and dentists. One of the searches led me to this website re ratings for doctors in the Osoyoos area. As Dr. Tarr has been my doctor ever since he came to Osoyoos, I perused the first 15 or so reviews on him. Some of those reviews prompted me to respond. I am one who has had pre-existing conditions during this time, and like several in Osoyoos, I am now a senior senior. I was astonished, to say the least, at some of the comments. A few complained of his arrogance and subsequent if "he doesn't get his way you get harrassed". If forthrightness is considered an "arrogance", then I suppose he is guilty. As to being harrassed, I find that hard to believe. Another states that his "lack of knowledge on anything other than the common cold" is also a mystery to me. I have found him extremely knowledgeable and up-to-date on medical practices and medical breakthroughs, and if I question him on something I've read, he either has knowledge of it, or will research it to find an answer. A couple of comments are in regard to mistakes on prescriptions. In all the years I have dealt with him, and the many prescriptions I have had, I have never experienced a mistake. The comment that "he is utterly incompetent. Even the doctors at the Oliver emergency laugh about him" is out in left field. What qualifies the writer to state incompetence is questionable, and my several experiences in the Oliver emergency regarding Dr. Tarr and how he is viewed by staff is completely opposite to the writer's statement. I also, as another writer commented, have difficulty believing any doctor would "blame..the patient for being sick". I also find it hard to believe Dr. Tarr would laugh at someone talking to him about sensitive personal issues. I have done so on several occasions, and always found him empathetic and understanding. The long comment about Dr. Tarr's hesitancy to order tests and/or make referrals to specialists has not been my experience. It has been my experience he never has hesitated to order referrals to a specialist.

So if anything, I would say Dr. Tarr may sometimes go overboard at times, erring on the side of caution, to ensure he has a thorough picture of what he is dealing with for a patient. As one person sending in a review stated: "If he cannot find an answer to your problem he finds out or sends you on to a Specialist." The complaint about wait time is legitimate; however, other than the statement about shortage of doctors, it is often unknown as to the reason for the long wait time; e.g. an emergency when he is serving at the Oliver hospital; a previous patient requires more time than scheduled. In summary, we are fortunate to have the doctors we have in the Osoyoos area, and for me, I feel fortunate to be in the care of a knowledgeable and highly competent doctor practitioner like Dr. Tarr.
