I relocated to Williamsburg, VA and waited three months for an appointment with Dr. Lopez. He has a brusque manner which may be off-putting to some but he is extremely knowledgeable about medications. Get past the fact that he is not "warm and fuzzy" as mentioned by another reviewer and he will do an excellent job listening and prescribing what you need. I have been to many doctors over 30+ years and he is one of the best. In addition to his private practice he also volunteers at the Lackey Free Clinic and Olde Towne Medical Center due to the lack of psychiatrists in the area. He is very dedicated to improving his patients' mental health.

My son goes to dr cardona. Being a psych nurse myself I am very thankful for the vast knowledge he has. He absolutely listened to me and my concerns and addressed them. My son has improved greatly in his care even though he made some big med changes he was correct in doing so. He is not warm and fuzzy he is not going to be your best friend, he is clinical and to the point and that's fine by me, as I was seeking excellent treatment for my son not just a good bedside manner.

Dr Lopez diagnosed my son with multiple issues and treated him with several different medications that didn't help. My son suffered two years in the hands of Dr Lopez. He is an arrogant know it all man who doesn't respect the mothers opinions of her own child. After two years of no progress I asked for a second opinion. Lopez was very upset that I wanted a second opinion that he told me to not come back to him. Then he falsified my sons records saying I no longer wanted to continue service. He is not a good doctor in my opinion.

Dr. Lopez met with my son three times. He had a quick checklist and was difficult to understand. He tol ne son has anxiety issues which was great but the medicines he put him on were ADHD meds that didnt treat the,Real problem. His receptionist is rude and also difficult to understand. She continually made appointments for my son which we couldn't make and then Dr. Lopez charged us $60 for missing the appointments. When I complained, he sent me a letter tellung me he ws releasing my son. I am relieved to get out of that nightmare situation.

I recently was granted custody of my very troubled niece. Although we did have to wait almost 6wks to get in to see Dr. Lopez it was worth the wait. Yes he did go down a checklist but I think that was actually to help put my niece at ease. He was very matter of fact about the fact that other people suffered from the same issues and things that were even worse (She still cracks up about the fact that he asked her if she saw magical creatures). We were in there for almost an hour and never felt rushed. His accent is a little thick but not unmanagable and he will repeat something if you don't understand

I've seen Dr. Lopez several times. He thoroughly explains changes he makes with my treatment plan. His office staff is super efficient. She's amazing. Dr. Lopez has an accent and can be difficult to understand, but if you ask him to repeat himself, he's happy to oblige. Some may find it unpersonable that he takes notes on a laptop during his session(s.) He's using software that meets the requirements of the Obamacare national health care system. If he hand wrote charts, they'd have to be transcribed, which would be inefficient and costly. Eventually all doctors will be using laptops. I get why some people may find his personality unpleasant. If you take a deep breath and relax, it passes. He can actually be funny. I may not always agree with him, but I try things his way because he knows what he's doing and has a lot of experience.

Dr. Lopez is terrific. He has been my psychiatrist for 8 years. He listens carefully to details that might indicate a need for changes in my medication and respects my opinions when I feel the medication is working well. He also pays attention to the stress cycles of my work year and the situations that come up which pose challenges to my stability. No one really knows exactly why some drugs help some people better than others or why their benefits wear off. Psychiatry is not an exact science. The best psychiatrists are able to juggle much information about the individual and the potential medications. Finding the right fit involves getting to know patients well over the long term as well as testing in some cases. Dr. Lopez is a person whose judgment is worthy of trust over the long haul. I have been treated for depression, panic, and anxiety for over 30 years. Dr. Lopez is far and away the best.

I have been going to Dr. Lopez for the last five years for my medications. He continually has been approachable and understanding. Dr. Lopez listens to my concerns and is actively involved in my concerns in regards to my mental health, he also refers me to another physician when he has is addressing my medical concerns. I would recommend him to anyone seeking a psychiatrist. My neices see him as well.
