Dr. Ashcraft has been my and my families' physician for more than 40 years. he brought two of my children into the world. All physicians have their limitations, but he is very knowledgeable and had provided a high level of care. He always takes the time to listen and offers his opinions as advice. I have found him pleasant to deal with and straight forward with very high integrity and honesty.

Based on the times I've seen Dr.A, I can say he's someone I'll go to for simple health problems, but he doesn't always seem on top of things. Even though he can seem grumpy at times, I find he's listened and seems a nice person. However, some of his staff can be very condescending and abrupt. Recently I called to make an appointment for our 18 yo son (who was at work at the time) and was roundly scolded, saying I should be aware it was a violation of my son's privacy to do so...even though my son knew I was making the appt. What? I've called to make appointments for my husband in the past, with another doctor, no problem. She literally would not make the appointment. I wonder if the doctor realized his front office lost him a patient that day.

This doctor was on call during my stay at Marcus Daly Hospital ,over the weekend. He made no attempt to make himself familiar with my chart, and could not explain my current condition or it's treatment to me or my family when asked. He released me home without concern for my well being.

I am the son of a patient of Dr. Ashcraft's. It is a fact that he mis-prescribed heart medication to my father...and he was rushed to the ER in Hamilton. Last June my mother passed away unexpectedly while under Dr. Ashcraft's care and one month after he had given her a clean bill of health after a routine physical. I am gathering information to see if a lawsuit is in order. Further more, he had recommended a cardiologist to my dad that turned out not to be a cardiologist at all.

He seemed to know his stuff and handled my concerns well. The whole time I was with him I felt like I was back in Boot Camp. Man was he crabby, but not directed to me. As long as he is a good doc, I don't mind carbby. I'll be back to see him.
