This doctor should not have a license to practice, wrongly diagnosed; now it's cancer, Pure Negligence....

I have been a patient of Dr Whalen for more years than I can count. She has been exceptional, caring and always professional. I have been reading all these negative comments about her secretary which I find alarming because I have always treated her with respect and she has returned the favour, so I am not sure who people are writing about because their experience is not my experience. Andrea is always nice when I call and she has assisted me more times than I can count. I would not trade her jobs for any money. I truly believe you reap what you sow.

as others said, secretary is horrible. apparently only calling my cell phone 4 times and not my home phone, which she has that number as well, to confirm im still a patient is my fault and "she can't read minds". Home phone is there for a reason, and considering i may have lost my spot as a patient because of this is deplorable with the lack of healthcare in this province.

She is a great family Dr, caring.
Her Secretary needs to be replaced-She is often rude on the phone.

The secretary is very rude and unhelpful. We dont live in moncton, she doesnt seem to care about what she says or being uncooperative. She is not good help, id fire.

Staff very uncooperative. Doctor very quick to judge...unwilling to listen to patient's concerns....her way is the best.

Dr. Whalen has been my family doctor ever since I was born. She is a fantastic doctor and will do anything to make sure her patients are well taken care of. Her secretary on another hand, is VERY unprofessional and rude.
Her secretary loses patience very easily on the phone and if you misunderstand something and ask her again she will scream what you didn't understand through the phone and make you feel stupid.
I spoke to Dr. Whalen a few months ago for a prescription renewal by phone but she wanted to see me in person, I couldn't get time off work then so I told her I would call her in a few months to book another appointment to see her in person and she said it was fine. As a result, she only prescribed me a few months of medication to ensure that I would see her in person before prescribing me a whole year (proves that she's a careful and caring dr). So, a few months go by and I call (a month and a half in advance) for a full prescription renewal and an appointment in person. Well, the secretary didn't think I called early enough, got mad and told me "you couldn't of called earlier?" in a pissed off whispering voice because she had to squeeze me in to make sure I wouldn't run out of medication before my appointment. Ok, I understand that I should of maybe called earlier and she's allowed to think that, but saying it out loud and being this rude to a patient is unprofessional. I also thought calling a month and a half in advance was appropriate but I guess it wasn't good enough for the secretary.
I also had to see Dr. Whalen in an emergency situation a few years back, so of course she squeezed me in. I already had an appointment booked a week from then for a totally different reason and her secretary decided to cancel that appointment on her own, without consulting me, "since I saw her in an urgent situation and could of spoken to her then". Keep in mind that both reasons behind the appointments were totally different and she knew that and I also didn't want to cause Dr. Whalen to be behind schedule too much so I thought I'd save the subject of that appointment for that appointment. I don't even feel like I should justify this.
Anyways, I've lived through a numerous amount of these situations ever since her secretary, Andrea, has been there and everytime she seems to be ruining my experience with my family doctor more and more.
To finish, Dr. Whalen is, by far, the best family doctor in town. However, she definitely needs to find a new secretary if she wants her patients not to feel like a burden everytime they book an appointment.

Julie is the best family doctor in Moncton....not only is she caring but will give you tips on natural remedies when she can....she is by no means a pill pusher which I love about her. Keep up the great work our family loved you
