Dr. Heunis is an excellent physician with a great sense of humour. He listens well, is up to date with his medical knowledge, refers you to a specialist when necessary. In short, we’re lucky to have Dr. Heunis in Salmon Arm. He’s a breath of fresh air.

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is correct. One visit he is super helpful and the next he was very rude and abrupt. I think he has great potential and is probably exhausted due to our health care system and the lack of doctors but no excuse to be mean to your patients. People need compassion especially when they are ill, please don’t berate them and make them feel bad for asking questions and wanting help.

Friendly, professional, knowledgeable. Experienced a "walkin" with him and he got the diagnosis right in minutes and prescribed the right medication. Solved a problem I had for at least a year, on and off.

Reading over the reviews I agree with all of them. He is very good at referring and he listens to me mostly. He is usually cheerful and kind, however he is getting burned out and on a bad day he can be cutting and rude. Best to avoid seeing him for mental illness, but he will get you a referral. I’ve had a few negative experiences with him, but also found him to generally go above and beyond to ensure I receive quality care.

Dr. Heunis is one of the best Doctors I have ever had the priviledge to know. He was instrumental in my sons recovery with a diagnosis that and I quote the surgeon at St. Pauls Hospital who said that he is one of the smartest Doctors to have pegged the problem with my son .
All to often we use theses sites to only complain about things . I just wanted to give credit where credit I'd due to the Doctors and staff at Mount Ida Medical for always being compassionate & caring .

He is fantastic. Always makes time to listen to you, doesn't dismiss your suggestions or concerns and really cares. Really helped my husband get his depression/anxiety under control when he took stress leave from work. Highly recommended.
