Doctor Crawford saved my life when he gave me my start as a methadone patient. Without him I would have had to wait a year and a half to enter a program and would have most definitely killed myself by overdose before I ever got help. I owe my life to this man, and I hope everyone will have the privilege of working with him someday.

Dr C was my family doctor for years in Plaster Rock. He is extremely knowledgable, compassionate, and forthright; I have never again had such a doctor that I could put my trust in. He delivered and cared for my premature son, it had been 11 years since a premature baby was kept at TVH and Dr C was excellent with him; a nurse on staff came to work her night shift and found Dr C sleeping in a chair holding my son,'hot stuff' (as Dr C called). When I had hospital stays and couldnt sleep, it was not unusual to find Doc in the TV room doing his paperwork at 3am, or hear his soothing voice talking to an elderly patient in another room, who also couldn't sleep. Then people at the clinic complain about his tardiness, when he had been up most of the night filling out paperwork for beurocrats!! Specialists in St John and Fred. have told his patients that we were blessed to have a doctor as knowledgable as Dr C. I love Dr. C for the caring,no BS doc that he is and wish he would come back to P.R.

he helped lots of folks out.. 4 the people that are hard on him with the rude comments, all i can say is u put the white doc jacket on and listen to over 100 addicts on a 2 or 3 times a week.. that takes patients.. I liked him and goes to show they are all human... All the best DR. Shane

Dr. Thomas Russell Crawford was suspended effective April 25 and is now subject to a formal hearing by a college investigation committee. Dr. Cameron Little, the college’s registrar and CEO, said he could not provide any detail on why Crawford’s license was suspended, noting the matter has been referred to a hearing. No date has been scheduled for that hearing. Also, Cameron said Crawford can request a meeting in advance of the hearing with the committee but that no such request has been received. The suspension, explained Little, comes after the committee received information that Crawford may be guilty of professional misconduct or conduct unbecoming a physician. Having received such information, the investigations committee can move to suspend the license, without a hearing, if it feels the suspension is in the public interest.

Dr. Crawford is a great doctor in certain regards, he is an ext. smart man with a great knowledge of physiology and psych as well, its his personal demons that affect his profession, and although your personal life is your own, as a doctor it can reflect patient care unfortunately...when in a good place in his life, he is compassionate and caring, but when not, it is very apparent, being a Dr. in Glace Bay is not the easiest place to practice, and the Health Board should never have put a recovering addict in charge of a meth program, a setup to discredit him due to his constant battles with Compensation (in which without Dr.C, most people would have lost everything they deserved from those arrogant, useless ********)If he was to get in a right frame of mind, he could be a great Dr. and a great exp. for all, rem. that a Dr. is still only human and does make mistakes like we all do. But if you compare who he's helped compared to who he couldn't, i'd say he (and we in GB) got a raw deal.

I like Tom as a person, but his office in general can be unprofessional. I have had several referrals not make it to the specialist I was seeking. Time can be a grave factor when it comes to your health and I think the administrative staff could be more careful when handed a task. He is a smart man, caring in his own way, but doens't take the health of anyone under the age of 50 as serious as those 50 or above. Could be a great doctor if he put his head in the game. All in all, it could be worse, but why should it? I just wish he would get it together because he could be one of the best.
