I would seriously recommend that if you can find another doctor then do so. This man is the most unsympathetic self important doctor i have ever seen. He is not my doctor, but a member of my family has been seeing him for years. I try to get my family member to change doctors but it is very hard to find one here in Quebec. This man precribes medication based on descriptions of the conditions over the phone. At that it is his secretary doing the asking of the symptoms. It has happened twice to my family member that they had two different problems and he didn t even have the kindness or professionalism to see them in person. When i went to his office with my family it was if i violated his space and profession. He is very rude , dismissive, arrogant and not willing to listen. I don t know how his secretary puts up with this man.

He's been my GP for about 18 years. I've always found him to be self important and unsympathetic. I haven't seen him in over two years. I called about 1 1/2 years ago to find out about getting my annual tests done and mentioned that I'd lost a lot of weight and wanted to lose another 20 lbs. I was told to call back when I'd lost the weight. I now have some problems and I don't want to call him. I really do think he only cares about tate damned desk.

Dr. Trister is a unique person. Good at his job but alot to be desired in his bedside manners. He is a good diagnostic and you can rely on his judgement. Very difficult to talk to because he does not allow it. This is too bad. He intimidates you to the point that you swear you will change doctors as soon as you can which is an impossibility these days. I sincerely believe this is an act on his part and is probably a very nice person. I am glad that I read these comments on this site because I thought that I was the only one he treated rudely.

IN A FAMILY THAT HAS KNOW BOTH TRAGEDY AND SICKNESS, NEIL TRISTER HAS NEVER LET US DOWN. HIS EXPERTISE, KNOWLEDGE AND KINDNESS, HAS BEEN A TREMENDOUS CRUTCH TO A FAMILY BROUGHT TO THEIR KNEES. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PHYSICIAN WHO IS NOT STRAIGHTFORWARD... AND THAT'S WHAT YOU PREFER, YOU HAVE THE WRONG DOCTOR. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DOCTOR WHO WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH WITHOUT BEATING AROUND THE BUSH...YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE THE INVALUABLE EXPERIENCE THAT HE OFFERS.

When at 53 I asked for a colonoscopy he told me I was very healthy did not need one. Latter (I was 55) when I insisted in telling him my symptoms he implied that I was "neurotic/menopausal" with a simple haemorrhoid. After I kept on insisting he agreed to give me a fecal test. When the results come in, he called me and in a very bad manner accused me of adding blood to the sample! A week latter I had a colonoscopy (privately) about month later I was operated of advance stage II, Colon cancer, chemo followed; so much for being a great diagnostician.

Yes he is a character. Maybe even weird but he does the job and that`s what I look for. He`s been my docter for over 20 years and I can handle him as he handles me.

Highly arrogant, mean-spirited, lacks compassion. Insults you when you are feeling sick. Is demeaning and degrading. I switched to another doctor who is sweet, kind and attentive. I should have done so long ago.

AMAZING!!! Yes he may have a different attitude or character than most of us, but he is amazing! Any of you who feel HE makes you feel inferior, NO ONE has the power to do that to you but YOURSELF! So think about that one before pushing the fault elsewhere... I am a registered dietitian, and must say I feel very lucky he cares for me and my boyfriend and half of my family!!!

Yes he has an attitude and his desk-fetish is a little weird but he is without a doubt the most competent doctor in the city. He knows what he is talking about and he is definitely one of the most thorough and responsible physicians I've ever seen. He will quickly and correctly find out what if anything is ailing you and will correct it and after 7 years with him, he has always always found a satisfactory solution when needed. I have found that he tends to be on time with appointments rather often which is something that cannot be said about other physicians in this city. He also spends more than the average 15 minutes with a patient for a consultation. As for those who say he is not sympathetic, my experience has been that his follow-up is outstanding and is always ready to help when asked. If you can get through his hard shell, you will find he is a genuinely caring individual with a distinct sense of humour and an extremely competent doctor.
