Biography
Although he was born in New York City, Dr. Gamponia grew up in Spencer, WV. He is a graduate of Davidson College, NC, and West Virginia University Medical School. He completed his internship at the Washington University of St. Louis, MO, and his ophthalmology residency at West Virginia University. Dr. Gamponia is a board certified ophthalmologist, a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Gamponia joined Regional Eye Associates in 1997. He is experienced in a wide variety of comprehensive ophthalmic surgeries including laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and retinal laser surgery. Dr. Gamponia resides in Morgantown with his wife, Bethann, and their four children, Payne, Andrew, Phoebe and Victoria.

Never in my life have I had a doctor who sat down with me and talked to thoroughly about my condition. Dr. Gamponia is absolutely fantastic. He took the time to talk to me about my glaucoma and let me ask all of my questions. I would not trust my care to anyone else.
