In July 2003 I was involved in an auto pedistrian accident crossing Colorado Boulevard and was transported to Denver General.... The first thing I remember is five days later and having Dr. Wade Smith ask me what day it was. I could not recall the day, but will never forget the man that fixed my broken body... I underwent a reconstructive surgery of acetabulum fracture. He used a new technique which was less invasive.... Having one inch scar on left hip in which he placed a few screws...He also peformed right knee surgery on my shattered right femoral condyle... 10 plus years later my hip is doing amazing... with less than a few times a year in which It feels like a tweak... I have completed two marathons through the New Mexico desert... I know that when I think of amazing people in my life... he is one of the first that comes to my mind... Dr. Smith truely helped save my life that night... I am forever blessed knowing that I had him as my trauma surgeon.

Dr. Smith surgically repaired my broken Acetabular following a bicycle crash. My experience with Dr. Smith and his team was nothing short of phenomenal. The pain associated with Acetabular fractures is tremendous. I have had other broken bones and related surgery before, but never experienced pain as with this accident. Dr. Smith performed surgery less than two days after the crash. Surgery was brief, even though two very large screws were inserted in my pelvis. The most amazing thing to me was that Dr. Smith accomplished this rather extensive repair through two very small incisions, little more than an inch in length if that. I felt immediate relief, recuperated two days in the hospital and came home. Because of the precision of the surgical repair and the excellent care I received, my recovery has been swift. Less then three weeks from surgery I am able to walk unaided, am entirely off pain medication, and have been given permission to begin exercise including a spin bike. My follow up appointment with Dr. Smith and his staff was as impressive as the rest of the experience. This is an excellent team of medical professionals, extremely competent yet personable and very caring. I couldn't possibly recommend them more highly.

Dr Smith is the very best! I had a serious break of the tibia and tibial plateau - He performed the emergency surgery and I am back to regular activities.

Does anyone know where he is I just found out he left Geisinger and am very upset

I shattered my femur in a ski accident in March 06. After being flown down to Denver General, Dr. Smith connected the intact section above the knee with the upper femur bone that was still intact using a metal bar and screws. The bar was removed in July 07. The results were so good that I am running daily, skiing, biking, and doing all other activities again at the same level as before the accident. I can't even tell which leg was broken unless I look at the three large scars. It truly seems like a miracle.
