He ruined my life. I had a consult for hematuria. I had been having severe allergic reactions to all dyes including foods, medication, smells, etc. He talked down to me, wouldn't let me speak about my fear and reluctance of getting contrast dye. He basically shut me up abruptly and didn't let me put in 2 words. The day that I had contrast dye administered was the day that my hell began. July 2022. I have been going in repeat anaphylaxis since then. I have used over 200 epinephrine pens since. I have Mast cell activation syndrome that was triggered by the dye. I tried to get his help after and he wouldn't acknowledge a problem until my bf confronted him. I will not trust this doctor ever again. He did me bodily harm and I'm still not better!

I suffer with interstitial cystitis and hunner ulcers of the bladder, as well as a very rare 24/7 extremely painful disease of the pudendal nerve called (PNE )Pudendal Nerve Entrapment. Your pudendal nerve that travels your lower back, across your pelvis, down both your cheeks of your backside and into the rectum, vagina (or prostrate in men) due to scar tissue etc. wrapped around the nerve. Only 8-9 doctors in world can do the necessary decompression surgery required to remove the issue and none are in Canada. My first consultation was over the phone after another urologist referred me to Dr. Dwyer saying he could not do the necessary treatment to the hunner ulcers. It took 1.5 years to be referred to Dr.Dwyer. Found him very pleasant on the phone asking me my medical history, the only question I had was why was he ordering another cystoscopy which he explained he wanted to see what issues their were for himself and after my prior experience I respected that. After the Cystoscopy Dr.Dwyer realized that I could not tolerate the injections required every two months and scheduled me for the OR for injections into the ulcers. The unfortunate part is that Dr.Dwyer is an extremely busy man that handles a huge caseload of cancer patients that obviously are going to be priority.
I did get injections in May 23 which gave me the first bit of quality of life I have had in ten years with pain so bad I would not sleep for days, screaming in pain to point, could not walk and was usually living my life in bed for last year. I will thank this man forever for giving me three months of freedom forever as people do not understand how little life you have with severe chronic pain. I have a very high threshold for pain, but have had no quality of life in over ten years to the point you do not want to live, watching how much your pain effects your family to see you like this and feeling helpless. I was to the point of contacting MAID, as what is life with no Quality of life. I took those two months and had vacation with my family, it was a much needed time to heal mentally for my whole family.
Unfortunately the injections are temporary lasting 2-3 months and because Dr.Dwyer being a very kind and knowledgeable man could not fit me in regularly as the injections should be 2 months apart.
I have nothing but good things to say about Dr.Dwyer as he gave me a taste of life again and the strength to go on. Only downside for me is that I cannot see him every 2-3 months for treatment due to the high demand for his expertise with cancer. I cannot say I am more important than those suffering with that and wish the best for all of his patients. If I had one wish it would be to have Dr.Dwyer as my regular urologist.
