Cold, uncaring, overcharged by billing a $1,000 deductible after my insurance had already paid 100% of his billed amount (not contract rate) as I had already hit my deductible and out of pocket (oop) maximum for the year. I spoke with the office and was told Dr. Andelman handles ALL of his own billing, which he refused to discuss. VP from my insurance carrier got involved and sent him a sharply-worded letter indicating his credentialing with the carrier could be subject to review if his conduct persisted, before Dr. Andelman would finally back down (he was threatening collections, making the calls to me himself, twice even on WEEKENDS. As staff says, he handles his own billing). Issue #2 - Excessive Testing: Obtained second opinion and was advised half the testing (the most expensive portion of his nearly $4,000 bill) was not only unnecessary, but incorrect testing and poorly administered. The greatest issue is that the wrong types of testing were performed. This second opinion determination was made by an actual Board Certified Child and Adoloscent Psychiatrist. Dr. Andelman is *NOT* Board Certified. He says it costs him money to maintain Board Certification and he does not get paid any extra money. What a shame, but at least I got my child's care on track after a 3.5 month wait for a second opinion with a Board Certified Psychiatrist and titrated to a course of medication that involved fewer meds and lower dosages in addition to a referral to a therapist who is strong fit. Perhaps Dr. Andelman should take a sabattical (he seemed burned out and disinterested) and focus on Adult Psychiatry. I do not recommend taking a child or teen to Dr. Andelman. I look for good in everyone: his private office had a plethora of toys that were child oriented and teen activities for the older ones. At least he makes an effort to connect with them.

Go elsewhere. This was a disappointment following a long wait.

Listens well and thinks thoroughly before prescribing anything. He cares about his patients, and takes his job seriously. He doesn't rush you, and cares about getting everything right. If he weren't so expensive, I would still be going to him.
