The waiting time had been consistently more than 1 hour during each visit, actual time spent with the doctor around 10-15 minutes, which pretty much taken care of all the questions/concerns i had or the procedure scheduled. Being a health care provider myself i don't have anything to complain about her attitite, and she called me at least 2 times personally to follow up with me. Dr. Hughes's staff are wonderful, Dr. Hughes herself is a very efficient, matter of factly no nonsense provider according to my opinion. But the waiting time is just horrendous, my last visit waiting time was 75 minutes, to which the staff and the doctor acknowledged and apologized for. That is the only bad thing i have to say about her service.

After scheduling a colpospocopy/LEEP knowing my LMP was over 30 days she never did an HCG test. Was then scheduled for hysterectomy and was seen in her office 15 days prior to this procedure and still no preg. test. The DAY of the scheduled hysterectomy a standard blood test was done to find I had been 7 weeks pregnant and exposed my fetus to prior surgical procedure and medications contraindicated in first trimester pregnancies. I have been spotting for weeks and concerned now I have exposed this child to medications it will never recover from. She is rather condesending and no respect for patients time. Each office visit has been two hours or more with only 10 mins. or less with her. In regards to the spotting issue, she sent me back to work stating I would loose this baby at home or work and bedrest did not matter... Seriously?? Her staff is AWESOME, ashame I cannot say the same about her.

Dr. Hughes' bedside manner is to be desired. This is a service -driven industry and along the way she has forgotten this. Instead, she exudes an air of arrogance, which translates into a "know it all attitude" and failure to listen. I am a diabetic who successfully delivered 4 babies.Under her care for my 5th, she pushed metformin after I insisted that it made me sick with minimal effect. Subsequently, when I reported my high glucose levels, it became my fault and "I have failed" (her words. Had she cared to listen and look at my history it would have become apparent. The trust and relationship was damaged. I didn't want to go back and prematurely voiced this to her staff. Later, after deciding it was too late to switch, I tried to discuss my concerns with her. She was very defensive, talking over me and even resorting to using medical terms as a intimidation tactic. She terminated the service. I was relieved! I am now free to find a doctor that puts my concerns in the forefront

Dr. Hughes was a adequate physician. I would not reccommend her to anyone however. She provided competent care, but her bedside manner left quite a bit to be desired. The worst was during my labour she pushed for a C-section (for my little 7lb baby) when she knew I would prefer a natural birth. At my six week postpartum appt. she tried to push birth control on me even though I had clearly stated several times previous (even after having my son, when she saw us at the hospital) that I did not want Hormonal birth control. Her staff was wonderful and caring, I will miss them.
