In our first visit, Dr. Welch was brusque and nearly confrontational, pushing hormone therapy on me that I did not ask about and do not want. She seemed uninterested in getting to know me as a patient and in a great hurry to leave the exam room. She then referred me for needless, expensive follow-up testing, could not coherently answer my questions about that referral , and took over a week to respond to my primary care physician's follow-up inquiries. This was overall one of the worst experiences I have ever had with any health care provider.

Dr. Welch is great. She listens, responds, spends time with me and returns phone calls personally. If she doesn't know the answer to something, she gets back to me after investigating. The office staff, however, is a different story. They're cranky and curt. The nurses? Some are kind and personable. Others are rude and dismissive. And, don't EVER bother calling the office after about 3:15-3:30 p.m. when they close at 4:00. They take the phones off the hook and all you get is a busy signal! (I've tried it myself, but I also know for a FACT that they turn the phones off, as my friend's relative used to work there). During the rest of the day if you call, it rings, and an outgoing message quickly prompts you to press the correct number for appts, billing, etc. After about 3:15, though, you get a busy signal until, magically, right at 4:00, the call goes straight to a message saying the office is closed. How professional is that?

I recently had the PLEASURE of working with Dr. Welch. I have never been more satisfied with an OB GYN doctor as I have with Dr. Welch. She was pleasant reasuring and anwered any questions. I even recommended my 20 year old daughter to go see her. I'm sure these patient are talking about the Other Melissa Bergfeld in the office who is a APRN. Who I agree had the worst bed side manner and was not very compassionate at all and I found her extremely Rude. But Dr. Melissa Welch has been fabulous to me and very attentive to my medical needs and concerns. She is extremely professional and caring to all of her patients.

She is by far the worst Ob/Gyn on staff. I am currently pregnant with my first child, and justly full of questions and worries. She wrote me off when I asked her about pain and swelling, she essentially called me "too fat" and that I needed to exercise (when, if she looked at my chart, she would have seen that due to my high-risk assessment by one of other doctors there, I was to refrain from exercise) and she told me that for pain I could take whatever I wanted (when Tylenol is the only thing that was safe for me.) She rushed me so much that I forgot a lot of vital questions I meant to ask regarding me and my child's health, and she rushed through my appointment in minutes after leaving me in the room waiting for her for almost 45 minutes prior! When she did my ultrasound, she didnt talk to me and she printed a picture and put it in my file without giving me a copy. BAD bedside manner! I have heard nothing but horror stories about her and I tried to give her a chance. WORST.

Staff can't do their jobs right. Without fail EVERY TIME, I've had almost every staff ask me if they can make a photocopy of my insurance card not to mention I've only changed it once. Melissa got a too personal with me which was unprofessional of her as a doctor, the questions had nothing to do with my visit I felt as if it was for her personal gain and not from a cordial point. Very uncomfortable and awkward.

This review is not about this doctor in particular, but the practice she is apart of (OBGYN Services). Very rude and unprofessional staff, and a lot of problems with scheduling and loosing appts, etc. And they never apologize or offer a kind word or smile. Trust me, I called the nurse administer to complain and was told it was MY attitude that caused her staffs attitudes and rude behavior. She reached this decision after speaking to them but never hearing my side, of course. Left this all in a voicemail and said "No one in my practice will be apologizing to you" and then mentioned she'd be out of the office so dont bother calling back. Needless to say switched OB's at 9 months pregnant because of all the issues and rudeness I dealt with. DO NOT GO TO THIS PRACTICE!

I was a paitent of one of the Midwives at this office for 3 years. I was told i needed to see Dr. Welch for a "infertility consult" after 1 1/2 years trying to conceive. Before i even got to meet Dr. Welch i could hear her talking to the nurse outside the door "This is a infertility consult and she's only 23, are you kidding me!" when she came into the room she was very rude, and acted like i was wasting her time. She told me "you are young, if you still aren't pregnant in 6 months come back." That day i requested all of my medical records and changed providers. After only 2 visits with my new Dr. it was discovered that I had a horomone imblalcane and a blocked fallopian tube, and that had nothing to do with my age! Dr. Welch judged me before we even got to meet and that is somthing a Dr. who works with such sensitive issues should never do. I am currently 9 months pregnant with no help to Dr. Wlech. I also wanted to add that the office staff is very rude.

Dr. Welch is a great listener and extremely thorough. Everyone that uses her for their Dr. has nothing but good things to say about her. The other comments about her are very far from her personality. She has a very kind and patient personality. The nurses are great as well, however the office staff is on the grumpy, non friendly side. Most don't even crack a smile or make eye contact with you.
