This doctor completely messed my daughter up and at one point told her he didn't know if it could be fixed. She has already had one surgery to fix what he messed up and is now looking at another one by a different doctor to fix his negligence. I do not recommend this quack at all. He has no idea what he's doing and has ruined what should be a happy time for my daughter.

Had him as a baby doctor first tried to take baby at 34 weeks lucky had to go through another dr to get approved because they let us know baby was fine to go full teen and did. Then would call tell us to hurry to hospital and that he would let them know we were coming got there the hospital knew nothing about it he never called. Then we sat around for 8 hours just for him to tell us if we have nothing wrong and could go home right after he scared us to death saying we had to get baby out right then and there. Went through hell finally delivered then waited almost four days to get discharged cause he would show up to hospital where we were do his rounds not come see us and just leave. We would try to talk and he said he would be back later on that night. I understand doctors are busy I am a very patient person and have never left a bad review but this was ridiculous. Needs to get more staff or take on less patients. He forgets what is going on and tells us he is going to call or that he’s got to see us or we have to get there right away and then doesn’t call hospital or doesn’t show up like he says or scares us to death for no reason. His staff for the most part was very friendly the nurses at metro were freindly except a couple front desk girls who we told the doctor told us we had to schedule an app on a Thursday but they did it on Wednesday and we showed up and the doctor said result weren’t back that’s why he wanted it on Thursday but we told him we told front desk that and they went against it. The nurses at mercy were incredible so friendly and caring. They got a little strung out as well but like I said that’s understandable. They were so nice. I will never come to this doctor again and would not recommend anyone else to either .

I have Five children and went to Sotolongo for all of them. He is very kind and makes you feel important. The only thing I would complain about is the wait time. I have sat in the waiting room up to 2 hours before.

Followed a doctor from my old gyno to his office and set up my appointments with her. She was out due to family illness so I saw Dr. Sotolongo. He was very friendly and caring. My previous doctor had diagnosed me with a cervical infection for the last 6 months. Immediately upon examining me Dr. Sotolongo found a giant mass that he said my old Dr could not have missed. He performed surgery and it all went well. On my follow up visit he informed me that the mass was cancerous despite clean pap-smears for the last few months. He was genuinely sad about the diagnosis even though I had just met him. Referred me to a gyno-oncologist who performed a radical hysterectomy that saved my life. I now have to see the oncologist for future exams but would definitely see Dr. Sotolongo if I could.

I had been seeing Soto for about 4 years before seeking out a 2nd opinion. I began seeing him due to an abnormal pap, for which he performed surgery when I was 19. When I was 20, he told me he needed to do it again and I needed to have my children immediately or not at all, as the surgery would prevent that possibility once performed. I was also having monthly ultrasounds and taking medication for PCOS for 3 years. Within that time, my need for surgery disappeared. I began noticing that he was not listening to me and was discounting me concerns. Finally, I sought a 2nd opinion. Good thing, because I've quickly learned that almost everything he told me was total opposite of the truth. I don't even have PCOS! He never did blood work to confirm it. All these years, I've been paying for testing and meds I didn't need. I was also told, I probably never needed the surgery either. I also know several other people who have had similar experiences with him.

I have had extended waits at the Council Bluffs office. Once I waited 2 hours, another time 1 1/2 hours. It is the office practice to perform an ultrasound at every OB visit, which is likely why the office is so busy. I think I am switching doctors soon because I just can't waste that much of my time in a doctor's office.
