Lecours was my assigned GP back in the early '00s. Once past her (then) pleasing appearance, it became plainly evident she hadn't the attributes of an affable doc. nor the inclination to deliver quality healthcare.
Back then she worked at the Polyclinic walk-in on Grafton. At that time, much unlike today, wait times weren't egregiously awful, for the PNP waves had yet to fill reception rooms across the province. Nonetheless, the secretary was a piece of work insofar that making an appointment through her felt like an ailment.
Lecours herself proved no better. The most noteworthy error in judgement occurred when she sought to treat my toenail fungus with an overkill Rx that was off-the-charts hepatotoxic, among other side effects. Youthfully naive, I trusted her physician's wisdom to discover the med. was also highly effective in depleting my body of calcium, as evidenced by my rapidly yellowing teeth. Online research confirmed my suspicions of it being bad stuff. On any of my other infrequent visits to her office I never got that feeling of "my doc. cares" the health advocates promote as an ideal.
The matter that decided my patient status with the doc. came by way of her refusal to sign a student loan relief form. That vote of non-confidence was cheerfully related by the receptionist. So disgusted with the indifference I'd been meted, I penned a letter to the Patient Registry, imploring it to replace me with someone more accepting of Lecours' style of doctoring.
