She cannot tell you to renew your Ohip if not expired. Tell them at service Canada. It’s illegal. More need to complain. They MUST accept if not expired and in fact even if is!
Also complain to the college as I did. She has been reprimanded for treatment of public. She is a horrible person who hides behind her so called faith

Dr Ola is a wonderful caring Doctor however is Manager/wife needs to go. She has reduced me to tears on a few occasions. Has hung up the phone on me as well. Shes rude, unsympathetic, unhelpful and very condescending to the patients. My blood pressure goes up just seeing her when I walk in. I wish I could find another doctor, this is not a healthy environment for anyone.

Today was the last straw.
We got a call from one of the office staff saying my mom's health card will not be accepted by the office any more, and she would have to renew it.
It doesn't expire till the 3rd week in July.
Further investigation, by making a phone call back to the office ( and my lord they actually answered,) we were told there blling system won't
Work. So in other words instead of fixing their billing system they are making probably hundreds of people renew health card's that are good. What a waste of taxpayer dollars. I have had it. It was bad enough dealing with the office manager's disgusting behavior and now this.
My mom is 87, they made such a fuss about me attending appointments that my mom was visibly upset and I am sure caused her blood pressure to go up. All I did was ask for a chair. With a bad back and knees I cannot stand for long. I also have lung cancer stage 4, when I mentioned having difficulty breathing with a mask on, his words" then maybe this isn't the place for you".
I was shocked.
I am not mandated to wear a mask except if I want to visit that office.
Needless to say , even with POA I no longer attend appointments, I wait in the car.
Dr. Ola is OK. His staff is horrible, you can tell there are problems because the phone message says bad language will not be tolerated.
Stay away from this office.

I'm not going to lie I have not been to this doctor in years. However there is a reason why I never stepped into that man's office ever again. As a young female (19 at the time), I was putting trust into a family Doctor with my female needs pertaining to sexual health. The discomfort the minute I walked into the office should've been my first red flag to leave. Stationed on every flat service available leaflets, brochures, and even posters on the wall talking about "walking with god is the right choice", or talking about how sex is only permitted within marriage, and other various religious garbage that is NOT acceptable in a medical setting. Don't berate your religious views on people seeking medical help.
The office staff were... there. not helpful, not unhelpful, but boy did I feel severally judged by them.
Dr. Ola is a "nice" man, in his manners and knows how to not be outwardly rude. But it pretty much stops there. He asked basic medical questions for coming in and I expressed my interest in birth control. To which his response was "Why, are you sexually active?" This through me off, the tone he used seemed accusatory like a parent asking if I had stolen cookies from the cookie jar. My immediate response was "NO! of course not!" Because I did not feel safe answering his question honestly. That layer of religious judgement that the waiting room had already given me. His response left me feeling neglected and that woman's sexual health were non of his concern outside of a religious marriage. He responded with "Good! You shouldn't be having sex anyways until you're married. And you should be practicing abstinence anyways."
Well with that response I walked out of his office to never return.
I would highly suggest if you're female and care even a tiny bit about your sexual health DO NOT go to this Doctor.

I have waited a long time to submit this review to avoid commenting on issues that may no longer exist. I was with this practise from pretty much its beginning and I stayed with it for over 10 years. My observations are the summary of many years of interaction with the doctor, the wife and the office staff. There is no point in reiterating all the problems I encountered over the years because most of them are reflected in the negative comments which people have written. To be of value to a prospective patient, my comments should serve to support or negate what others have said. Dr. Ola is personable and always treated me with respect except for one occasion. Initially, i found him lacking in referral knowledge and if I needed a specialist, I had to come up with the name. Over the years, that improved as he became more familiar with the medical people and agencies connected to Niagara and the golden horseshoe. I felt he was sincere and appeared interested in a patient's complaint, but he became more and more remote as he basically hummed and typed into a template on his laptop. He tended to readily prescribe for the condition or drug requested. We got along, but I never really felt he knew me as a patient with a set of medical issues. Each visit seemed to be a separate issue and not part of a whole person's dynamics.
I always verified my scripts with the pharmacy to avoid harmful interactions. There weren't a lot, but some drugs were not the best choices for me. As far as the comments by individuals touting his extreme care, benevolence and expertise....I can't comment because that was not what I saw.
However....what I did see was the bulk of all the negative responses you can read in the other offerings. I cannot comprehend where the gushing ,flattering and complimentary comments come from. I still know several patients who are still with the practise and would jump at the chance to go elsewhere when openings became available.
I understand that some things have changed in the time that I have been gone from the practise, but the complaints you see in the negative comments are real. The religious music was not a background. It was omnipresent and invasive....not to mention hypocritical, because the treatment by auxiliary staff, and especially the office manager, was abysmal. I knew some of the desk personnel from previous situations, and they seemed like they had undergone some kind of personality sterilization. They were still efficient but cold, distant and almost unfriendly. Its certainly did not seem like a Christian atmosphere. Of course, over the years, I understood this too.....Read the comments people have written about the office manager. They are as true as they are ugly. Someone described her as having an sir of underserved entitlement.....and I cannot improve upon that. Her presence and methods cast an oppressive pall over the entire practise....rigidity, inflexibility, aloofness, condescension plus a very apparent obsession with the almighty dollar and the associated trappings. The obsession with unnecessary and blindly repeated tests was a testimony to the money aspect of the show. Many respondents have suggested that she was the biggest part of the problem, and I would have to agree. What disturbed me the most was that Dr. Ola knew and saw this regime she created and either endorsed it or was unable to rectify it. Maybe this has changed by now, but before I would commit to this practise, I would definitely talk to reliable present patients to assess their impressions of the situation. Those I have spoken to have commented on staff changes but indicate that original problems still exist. Personally, escaping the cold atmosphere, the condescending attitudes and the dodging of redundant tests has allowed me to now enter a doctor's office without my blood pressure being sky high. I was lucky to get another doctor; and I know you can read glowing reports interspersed with the negatives! I simply cannot fathom where they came from, unless they were planted. Do personal research if you can. Being ill is a big enough problem. Getting treatment should not add to your grief. Go elsewhere if you need to and can.

Patient's update
Typo: should read "air of entitlement" not "sir" in comments re office manager.

I will admit to being young, so Dr. Ola is the only doctor I can remember having, but he(as a doctor) has been fantastic. I do kind of understand the bits about random tests, but I haven't had anything invasive enough to actually bother me.. isn't it a good idea to keep an eye on stuff? Catch potential problems early? I dunno. He's incredibly friendly and personable, makes me feel heard and understood(Note that I am articulate and male, perhaps without these traits you may have a different experience)
The problem is all the associated stuff you have to put up with: so far as I am aware he does not have an email address. He does not take phone appointments. You must come into the office, you must deal with Abby talking down to you, you must wait a minimum of 30 minutes with your phone on airplane mode listening to Christian music that for some reason all sounds the same. I do it, because I have the time, and I think Dr. Ola is fantastic. However, I can see why you may not be willing to put up with this all the time. He's a very good doctor for me, but his office leaves much to be desired.

I have read nearly all the comments and find I have to write my experience with Dr. Ola - My husband and I have been patients since he arrived and always find him very concerned about our health and well being - some say he prescribes unnecessary medication in all my years he has never changed my prescription added anything and keeps close check on the effect to my body. can't ask for more - Now when it comes to Mrs. Ola, different all together, she certainly lacks people skills - does run the clinic with a strong hand but in the years I have learned how to deal with her - and we get along fine now. As for unwanted tests, I can't recall having tests done or arranged that weren't necessary. A few years ago I complained to him about a pain in my back and shortness of breath he sent me for tests and guess what if he hadn't I might not be around to write this - I had severe blockage in my heart valves and was immediately in surgery for quad by-pass - so thanks to Dr. Ola i am still here. The new office staff appear to be very nice ladies - hope they stay.

Dr Ola and staff go above and beyond to care for their pts. They call older pts individually for vaccinations, which is difficult with my parents who are well into their 80s and have issues with their hearing and answering machine! Dr Ola also helps out with late-night shifts in the NHS Emergency/Urgent care clinics where his expertise and skills are needed for sometimes life-threatening conditions.
I understand that with the pandemic it is challenging to schedule appointments and maintain safe distancing in offices and I think a little patience and understanding on our part would also be appreciated.

Staff is off the sharts rude. Been beratted for not having being able to give fresh urine sample. I am not incontinent but there is an ergency when I have to pee. Told to be to "prepared " for visits. When did this practice become an addiction centre??????? Dr, checked my ears. found a bit of soap on black tip, wiped it on my shoulder & stuck the same tip in other ear. He once removed a band aid from a small wound to look at it & looked at it as if to wonder about putting it back on the wound. Was a few minutes late late for a visit & beratted like a five year old in front of full waiting room. Quack holy all day nusic is loud enouph to drown out my speech. During covid, an elderly lady walked in behind me & his wife, the so called "office manager" came grom behind her plexiglass & ordered her to wait in her car. I subsequently apologized to the confused lady in the parking lot. Found a new DR.............

I have had Doctor Ola for little over 2 years now & he is terrible. He is not compassionate & doesn't like taking advice from other hospital doctors. The staff is the the worse ever. His wife runs the office & treats the patients like they were idiots. Very unprofessional care. Nearly killed me by prescribing an anti-biotic that I was allergic to which was clearly listed as such in my medical records. Didn't bother reading my file before prescribing. He is also impossible to get a hold of when you need to. Sometimes not returning your call for a test requisition of medication renewal for an entire week. Seriously tay away if you value your health.
