I have been going to Dr Communale for 30 years, I would say he is one of the diagnosticians I have seen.

Yes, He is grumpy, but by far one of the most intelligent doctor's I have ever seen! He has been able to fix my knee issues, when all other Dr's & specialists kept telling me that I would HAVE to have surgery! THEY WERE WRONG! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr.Communale to EVERYONE!

This is an excellent doctor. Never a wait - very prompt and listens to your concerns. He gives me excellent care and I can't say enough positive things about him. I've been going to him for years - even as I've moved from mclean to DC - just can't find a better doctor in the area. His office is not traditional - i appreciate his straightforward approach - he has glib humor and is a bit sardonic which i'd prefer over incompetance any day. It's wonderful to go to a practice that has personality and he really cares for his patients. He's been my savior on many occasions.

I was referred to Dr Communale by my In-Laws. He is very knowlegeable and experinced. He was able to diagnose my husband's problem after many months of seeing specialist and surgeon. We are very happy with him. My husband loves his fat, cute cat.

Dr. Communale is rude and cranky but below this bulwark of social armor is kind and caring man. He is always kind to my son, he is just not a big fan of adults and being a cynic myself, I say "who is". He is always available very knowledgable and I always feel like his practice is a throw back to the good old days of the local Doctor. I know from experience that he is always abreast on all the medical journals. This man is one sharp cookie. I think he is an excellent Doctor and love that he is obtuse.

Dr. Communale has been my family practitioner since I was around 12. He is great. He's definitely different - but I can guarantee that you won't be able to find a more qualified, wise and sincere (completely non-money minded) Doctor in the greater Washington area! He's the only doctor I trust to tell me what is really necessary for my health. From medications to flat shoes. - Lakshmi

Dr. Communale is a FABULOUS diagnostician and truly cares about his patients. He is accessible whenever you need him, early morning, night, weekend. He was able to rush us into the radiology center at the hospital to have urgent test done without having to go through the emergency room. Additionally, once we were done at the hospital he had already scheduled an appointment for us to see the top specialist the very next day. Where else do you find a doctor like that? Yes, he is quirky and sometimes unfriendly, but I think his excellence in diagnosis and care far outweigh these less than favorable attributes. And, he is a fabulous writer too...check out his books!

Dr. Communale is a FAA designated flight doc, so I see him at least once a year. I agree with the last couple posts. he is a bit eccentric, and totters around. His place is a mess, his secretary is grossly overwieght, and he's been putting on weight lately as well. Having said that, he has a sharp eye for anything out of the ordinary, and his diagnosis is amazingly, and suprisingly right on. For example: While wight lifting something happened and my shoulder started slumping badly. Went to Bethesda Naval hospital. Saw neurosurgeon, neurologist, orthopedic surgeo, had MRI, and xrays taken. Total time about a month to diagnose severed long thoraic nerve. On next visit to Dr. Communale. I described the symptoms. He asked one question regarding a symptom. Said damaged long thoraic nerve. I was blown away. If you can tolerate the oddities of his practice he's pretty remarkable.

Dr. Comunale is brilliant and an excellent diagnostician. However, he is also eccentric and irratic. He communicates only when he is in a good mood, and he keeps horrible records. I once needed to go to a cardiologist for a consult, and was asked for my latest blood tests, and Dr. Comunale had NO record of my last physical. He is punctual and has helped me through many illnesses and injuries over 20 years. However, I am getting older, and I need baseline test results, physicals, and someone who can remember or look up my history. He is a remarkable diagnostician, but reluctantly, I am starting to look elsewhere.
