Dr. Thomas McCauley is The Best eye doctor in the country! I was losing my sight due to hereditary issues and years of computer usage at work. I must admit, I met this doctor in the most peculiar way. It was the eve of the New Year, 2001. About a quarter of. I can remember this night because, as I drove home, I hit almost every sidewalk, like I was intoxicated. I called the office and he met me there. My levels were off the meter. I had eye surgeries, several, because I was losing my sight! I trust this man, explicitly! He took this woman, who could not see and gave her sight! I'm legally blind but thank God and Dr. McCauley, for the sight that I do have! I refer every single person that I know, to him. People, strangers, that I speak to, that are having eye problems, I tell them about him. He is the very best, both knowledgeable and personable! You'll not find better. He's tops on my list!

I am a nurse at Lifespan Miriam Hospital where Dr. McCauley performs most of his surgeries. He is our best cataract surgeon and operates on all the surgeons, nurses, anaesthesiologists and their families (as well as myself)--he does not have complications and spent the last 30 years as a team surgeon fixing other's mistakes. If he is not on time in his office, it may be from delays at the hospital which are frequent. He is a surgeon and handles many emergencies. He is there when you need him even when not on call. He is the BEST judged by other who see his surgery. Please call the doctors surgery lounge and ask for nurse Rose or any other eye nurse or anaesthesia doctor (people who watch the surgery, see complications and returns to the OR)

Went to Dr. McCauley for years. I agree he's a nice guy, but he screwed up my cataract surgery so badly that my vision is terrible. After the surgery when I said I couldn't see the chart, he yelled TRY AGAIN. Either you can see it or you can't. You wait for hours in his office because he has too many patients to handle and talks and talks to his little clique of friends who he manages to spend a lot of time with. I'd never go back.

Unprofessional, arrogant, never on time. Wildly offtopic during the appt. I don't have five hours to spend at my eye doc's, Dr. McCauley.

Dr. McCauley is an excellent physician who truly cares about his patients; his office staff - especially the summer technicians - proved extremely helpful on my visit and I no longer feel that I have to dread going to the ophthalmologist. The doctor's examinations are always thorough as well, a comforting thought.
