I have had two abdominal surgeries by Dr Mandel. Both times I had no difficulty getting and appointment. His staff was responsive when I called. I always got a call back. Dr. Mandel is very competent and hardworking. On five post op days I was in the hospital I saw him at least twice. I highly recommend him

Not sure about their knowledge. His nurse is very rude and not empathetic. Maybe this is a reflection of the doctor and how he treats his staff -- not sure. However, if you are greated with rudeness it turns you off to the practice. Wake up Dr. Mandel/your nurse is awful. In fact, I am having a problem with a surgery you performed/when I left a message in tears she failed to return my call -- then stated she never received a call. When she called me the day before my surgery/she had someone elses chart in front of her and thought I was having an entirely different procedure. That made me cringe......................................Dr. Mandel came highly recommended/he should do something about his staff -- they are the first representation to the office. Donna is rude/could care less.

Dr. Mandel checked-in on me every day (26 days in total) while I was in the hospital. He is extremely knowledgeable and confident, which is very reassuring. He is caring, and always listened and spent whatever time was necessary to address all of my questions/concerns. His office staff is outstanding: incredibly responsive and on-top of everything (appointments, insurance, procedures, transferring of records, etc). He is a remarkably gifted and talented surgeon, who I highly recommend.

My Mother was referred to Dr Mandel and was diagnosed with breast cancer. He sat down with us and explained her options in detail and advised what tests needed to be done prior to surgery. After the first visit we had nothing but problems. We had to make numerous calls to the office staff to remind them to obtain approvals through insurance. Leave repeated messages and wait for return calls. After all tests were done he called my Mother to advise the next step, surgery. And stated his staff would call her to schedule. Again, we had to call them. They couldn't tell us any times because they needed the films from MRI which we had to get and deliver. I had questions regarding the surgery and was told he would call me within 48 hours. It's been 4 days and I went there and still no call. Very poor bedside manner and no compassion or assistance from any staff.

I highly recommend Dr. Mandel. He always took the time I needed to answer all my questions.

He has come very highly recommended but his bedside manner sucks. I still have not scheduled the surgery, I am torn if im making the right decision. I need an element of human compassion.

The most unprofessional Dr. I have ever met. Rude and insulting. Not helpful or caring. Would never recommend him to anyone.

Lets just say I was shocked to read the below feedback. I saw Dr Mandel in 6/09 yes it did take a few weeks for appt. At that visit he was concerned and did what he had to do. Still shakey about the results, they wanted to do a bx on breast...thank god they did, turned out to be ca when first test gave false neg. He was very caring, worked hard w ins co for my ins co didnt cover plastic surgeon. Dr Mandel and his staff went above and beyond the call of duty, Yes the Dr is extremely busy w appts/surgeries/etc. Dr Mandel is rated in the top 10 drs in NJ. He is extremely knowledgable, educated. He was there for everyday for the 4 days I was in the hospital checking up on me. I liked him and his staff. Thank you Dr Mandel for everything

When I initially called Dr. Mandel's office for an appt. I was given a date of three weeks away. Because I was still outside of my PCP's office I went back inside and had his staff call at which time I was given an appt within three days. On the day of my surgery Dr. Mandel never met with me before or after the procedure. Despite my family being in the waiting room during surgery he did not speak with them in person instead he spoke with them over the phone. Due to complications I remained in the hospital overnight, he sent a physician assistant in to examine me the next day & then came in briefly to speak with me however he was unable to explain what caused the complications that resulted in my being hospitalized overnight. During my follow up office visit he still was unable to provide answers and seemed annoyed that I was questioning him. Thank goodness my PCP was able to explain the complications. I would not return to him and would not recommend Dr. Mandel to anyone.

I chose Dr. Mandel based on the recommendation of family. From the beginning he was up front about the various possible outcomes, and understood my concerns about the effect the surgery would have appearance-wise. He did an outstanding job, and instead of losing my nipple, I look completely normal and don''t have to have any reconstruction at all. I take immense comfort in being able to walk around feeling whole & having no visual reminder. He also did this at a reduced rate for me because I have no insurance. Thanks!
