VA chose this doctor for me. She hasn't treated me directly. Her office doesn't have a working phone system, per the VA. The billing coordinator who works from home called to verify my insurance, but no appointment calls within a week, no one calls back, so when they aren't able to help immediately, the office just tells you to call back. That's the craziest system I've ever heard of, and would definitely increase stress during pregnancy, as well as the no caring attitude from the staff (and likely the doctors is why their behavior is tolerated) I read reviews and transferred care before I had to experience the doctor directly. I hope you can too!

o
I was referred to Dr. Byrkit by an emergency physician. I didn't read any reviews about her before going because I was in terrible pain. It turned out horrible. She asked too much questions about my privacy without treating my symptoms. She became skeptical and wasn't satisfied with any answers I gave her. The first day I saw her after ER visit, her tech did an ultrasound on me. Dr. Byrkit didn't give me any diagnosis or treatment plan. She told me come back two days after for follow-up appointment. Again, she ordered another ultrasound without any diagnosis. All she said was she really wanted to do an exploratory surgery on me to see what was going wrong in my body. And that was freaking me out. I decided to stop going to see her while looking for another OB/GYN. Meanwhile, my friend told me to see my family physician before seeing anyone else again. And I was glad that I did. She finally diagnosed me with endometriosis.

Now I have to pay all of my medical bills for Dr. Byrkit without getting treated by her. The DMH hospital and Emergency Physician office offered 70% financial aid. But her office doesn't offer any of those help. When I called to her office to pay my bills, her staff was rude and talked to me with attitude.

One of my client has a daughter who went to see her during pregnancy. She turned out didn't like her. She said Byrkit wasn't approachable to patients. My friend's sister who had endometriosis also didn't like her.

Make sure you read all the reviews before going to see her. You don't want to spend money out of your pocket without getting anything back

Dr. Byrkit was my doctor for about ten years until I moved out of Illinois. She is one of the best doctors I ever had and will not find a more competent doctor than her.

Terrible doctor! Continuously made me come back for invasive procedures and couldn't explain why. When I went to a specialist for a 2nd oppinion they told me if I would have kept going back I would have probably had a lot of trouble giving birth later in life.

Gretchen is the absolute best doctor I've ever had. I've seen her for four years and through the birth of my first son. I'm now pregnant with my second. I have never felt so comfortable and taken care of!!!
