I brought my 12 year old son to the ER after hurting his foot and Dr. Butler was working at the time. I asked for x-ray and he would not give my son any tests. I brought my 7 year old son into a walk in clinic because he had pinkeye and what I expected to be a sinus infection. Dr. Butler was the doctor we seen. He told me he did not have pinkeye and no signs of infection. I knew it was pinkeye so we went to another walk in clinic and got prescription drops for pinkeye and antibiotics for a sinus infection. After days of illness my child finally got some relief. I will never go to that walk in clinic again, I will choose another clinic in GFW.

I met him twice, first time in a walk-in, second time in emerge, years ago. I found him to be inappropriate when I was feeling miserable as I couldn't get an appointment with my doctor when I needed her the most; this was before there were such a thing as walk-in clinics. I learned to be careful with communicating with him as he struck me as the type of person where I had to be careful what to say to avoid risk of his getting away with his behavior. He asked questions about my personal life, which at the time was irrelevant, had nothing whatsoever to do with my health issue, which was later found to be bowel cancer. It took me five different doctors to investigate my health issue because I was only 32 when I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Only good thing about him was the fa ct he took me as a walk-in.

He is not the only doctor who I found to be inappropriate by asking inappropriate questions about my personal life. Because of my experiences with two male GP's in the past I have always made sure my doctors were female to avoid risk of being assaulted during a pap test.

He was my family doctor for about 15 or so years. In that time he has made a variety of incorrect assessments of my health, as well as several other people in my family. If these were minor issues, I would not be concerned, but these were not minor. He has forgotten requests for certain types of follow-up for my family, and has not made simple referrals to healthcare programs that were easily accessed through other GPs. He simply doesn't seem to do his research on what programs are available in GFW, yet he is many peoples' connection to many of those programs. I'm not sure if he purposely withholds this information, or just is that out of the loop with today's healthcare system. Needless to say, he is no longer my doctor.

While he has been very friendly with my family, and is indeed quite personable, I question whether he actually still wants to be a doctor. Seems to me he still believes in magic bullet therapy, and has a tendency to over prescribe, without concerning his self with common issues such as drug interactions. He doesn't seem to pay attention to the bigger picture.

He has made the referral process difficult for myself and my family in the past. On several occasions, we had to push to see specialists... to the point of frustration, and after extended periods of ill-health.

I don't believe his heart is in his practice anymore. I would not refer a friend or family member to this physician.

When I first seen Dr. Butler at the age of 22, I was in hard shape. Praying to die. I was suffering from severe migraine with Arora almost daily. Dr. Butler didn't just let me suffer or treat me with pain killers like all the doctors I seen before him he sent me for test and to see different specialist until I could get a handle on my life. He gave me back my life. 13 years later A had a battle with Cancer. When I asked to be referred to a specialist in Alberta for a second opinion on what the Specialist in St johns had told me Dr. Butler don't try to talk me out of it he didn't tell me I was wrong he said " If you feel you want this I have no problem helping you". During my fight with Cancer Dr. Butler and his staff treated me with respect and empathy and were more then accommodating . I never once lost faith in Dr. Butler and I never will.

Should be a Vet-not a GP-he is completely useless. A real pill pusher to get rid of you.

Dr. Butler is a joke of a physician. Has been fueling a family member's perscription drug addiction for 20 years. Enough is enough, he needs to retire.

Wow, looks like a lot of fake positive reviews on this "doctor". He is a pervert, he has gotten away with too much already, and his wife makes darn well sure she helps cover it all up. . I'm patiently waiting for the day all will be revealed.

I am proud to say that I have been a patient of Dr. Robert Butler for at least 20 years. He is an extremely thorough doctor and is quick to refer to another doctor when needed. Personally I could not ask to have a more caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable doctor than he is... 100% satisfied with medical care received from him 😊
